It's been hot, which is typical for Oklahoma in August, and humid, which is not. It's just miserable to be outside if the sun is out. So I've spent some quality time in my sewing room this week, other than a couple of nights when I had to work late.
- 15 minute days/week = 5/7 days
- 15 minute days/August = 16/21 days
- 15 minute days/2021 = 194/233
- Success rate = 83.26%
So not a perfect week, but better than where I was the end of July.
The Scientist in Training decided she needed something to help her relax and after giving my long term cross stitch project a go, she decided to try embroidery. I posted back in February on her progress. The more stressed she gets, the more embroidery she seems to do, so she's finished a number of kits since then.
Several of these ended up as graduation gifts for her friends. She's still working on kits, but she's also taken a stab at using her own designs to embellish clothing.
The model of an atom on the gray sweatshirt was a graduation gift for one of her chemist buds. The rainbow heart she did for herself. When she was home last weekend, she brought her embroidery up to the sewing room. I sewed, she stitched while we hung out together. It's been nice to have a shared interest.
How was your stitchy week?

hot and humid here too - ready for fall - those are great embroidery pieces
ReplyDeleteThe SIT has done some wonderful embroidery designs! The embellished clothing is fun, too. It's great to see your daughter find a craft she enjoys - I love that it helps her with stress! Hope you have a great week, Kate!
ReplyDeleteShared interest with our daughters is so much fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching. Glad she’s found a needle and craft she loves. It’s been very humid here but not too hot—yet!
ReplyDeleteShe is a natural!!! Love all of the projects.
ReplyDeleteLove shared time together. SIT has done so great. Congrats on the good stitching week. Take it easy in the humidity - from Florida.
ReplyDeleteThe SIT is doing a beautiful job. I really love the bee, hand work is very good for stress relief. We had a beautiful weekend but have headed back to wild and woolly for the working week. The weather man promises sunshine for the weekend so fingers cross spring is round the corner.
ReplyDeleteLate August in western NY can be cool and cloudy, but this year it's living up to the name "Dog Days of summer". We're going to be hot and humid all week, which really saps my energy. The SIT is doing well with her embroidery. I love the one that says "Hold on. Let me overthink this". I can identify with that one. Hope you can stay on track with your 15 min a day.

SIT is quite prolific! Beautiful designs.
ReplyDeleteHopefully she does it for enjoyment too and not just to relieve stress.
Great job has been done on the embroidery kits. What fun to share stitching time with SIT
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind on reading your posts - sorry! SIT's embroidery is really nice, and how fun that the two of you can spend time together while you sew and stitch :-)
ReplyDeleteHer embroidery is so impressive - love what she’s done and how she is rocking her creations! You must be one proud mama!
