The weather was beautiful this weekend. We went hiking one day. It was nice to get out and enjoy the warmer temperatures. It's hard to think back a month and remember the deep freeze that was the last half of February. We'll enjoy spring while it's here, it tends to warm up quickly here. The highs in the mid 70s pass all too quickly and summer has set in before you know it.
Even with the pretty weather, I did manage to spend some time in the sewing room. Most of my time this weekend was dedicated to some secret Easter Bunny sewing.
The Scientist in Training reads my blog occasionally so I can't show the entire project. This was my try out the pattern version. It worked out pretty well, so I'm going to proceed with my plan to make two more for the SIT's and roomie's Easter baskets. I'll let the SIT have the demo if she wants it.
The other stitching involved finishing border 2 for step 7 of Unity.

I'm happy with how Unity is coming together. The HSTs that make up the star points in the step 7 border blocks are my current leader and ender project. It's slow going, but progress has been steady, if not fast. Unity was started last April, unfortunately it's not going to get finished before it becomes a UFO (by my definition any project over a year old). That's OK, it should still get finished sometime this year.
That's what's going on in my sewing room. Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.
You will get Unity done before too much longer. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteUnity is looking great. I like the fabric you’re using on your other project. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour Unity is lovely - great choice in color change. It looks like an English garden maze
ReplyDeleteUnity is looking fantastic! Have fun with the SIT' quilt, too. I wish you had a secret link where the rest of us could get a peek at what you're making, without spoiling her surprise!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got out to enjoy the nice weather! It looks like you're making great progress on Unity, and having fun with Easter Bunny sewing, too!
ReplyDeleteSecret Easter sewing sounds fun. I can't wait for the reveal! We had better weather at home than where we were at at the beach house. But it's continuing with nice weather for some of the days this week. I'm looking forward to walking outside for a while. Unity is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteLoving those star borders on Unity. It's progressing so well. We are actually expecting 80 degrees here today, which is CRAZY for March. I think Mother Nature has lost her mind.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors/fabrics in your Unity quilt. I need to work on another row soon. Yours is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteMy definition of UFO is anything that sits unworked on for over a year, but regardless of definitions, Unity is looking great and I'm glad you can feel that the finish will happen this year. :)
ReplyDeleteUnity looks great! Have fun with your secret Easter sewing. I've been trying to think of something for my grands and just can't come up with a boy creation.
ReplyDeleteI understand completely about the weather. Between the wind and alternating cold and heat, we don't get many days of nice, spring weather, and then we're in the sweltering days of summer. Enjoy your good days while you can.
Your Unity quilt is looking fabulous - the colors and fabrics are so cheerful. Secret Easter sewing sounds like a lot of fun. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is just stunning Kate! So many pieces, wow. I love the fabric combo; will be curious to see what this is!
ReplyDeleteI love your Unity quilt more each time I see it! Happy Easter, early!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that floral fabric is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteUnity is going to be a BIG quilt - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what Mama Bunny is bringing the SIT!! You've made good progress on your Unity QAL project. A completed quilt top is right around the corner (or down the road a piece!)
ReplyDeleteUnity is growing bit by bit. I just love the name she gave it! It is so fitting right now.
