Part of my puttering around was to finish de-threading the Red, White and Blue Stars quilt.
The top is all pressed and ready to package up with the backing. I'm hoping to finishing the packaging and get it to the post office sometime this week.
RWB Stars is my oldest project. After working with it, I switched to my newest project, Grassy Creek.
I'm not done piecing all the subunits, but I have enough finished to make that first block. I need to sew the three sections together, but it's enough to see how the colors play together. It's always one of the most fun parts of a mystery to see how that first block comes together. The second is having enough of the blocks and sashing done to see how your version is going to look as a finished quilt. It will be a bit before I reach that point in the process.
Now that the RWB Stars is out of the in progress rotation, I'll need to pick a new focus project. Do I pull out the next UFO on my list or do I focus on moving Grassy Creek and Unity to finished quilt tops?
Linking up with Monday Making and Design Wall Monday.
Well if it were me I would finish the two tops. I realized recently that I have several quilts almost done so my goal this year is to not get stuck at 90% done.
ReplyDeleteGrassy Creek looks absolutely beautiful. I would use that as a reward for finishing a project that isn't as pretty/fun. Good Luck however you proceed.
ReplyDeletecongrats on an out of progress top - grassy creek block looks great
ReplyDeleteYour Grassy is looking great! I say pick out a UFO so you have some variety.
ReplyDeleteOh I like your grassy creek - It looks classic - and what fun to have the SIT home to putter with you ;-)
ReplyDeleteDecisions, decisions. If you don't have a preference, maybe just flip a coin! Or pick out a new UFO to work on but spend more time on the two almost finished quilts. Grassy Creek is looking great.
ReplyDeleteIt’s an impressive pile of string, even for a lapsize quilt. Your new block is pretty. I like the combination of fabrics you’ve chosen.
ReplyDeleteBoth of those BH quilts are quite a commitment. I've found when making her quilts I need to stick to it to the end. Or else they hang around, as one of her past mysteries is doing right now in my studio!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful way to spend a day with a daughter. I'll bet there was plenty of good conversation. I like your Grassy Creek block a lot. My first block looks OK, but I still am not sure if I'll stick to my colors or go back to Bonnie's colors.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting RWB Stars to the finishing point! That's such a good feeling with an older UFO. Your Grassy Creek block looks wonderful - have fun working on those!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been nice to have company while you cleaned up the quilt top! I think your Grassy Creek block looks great and I say to keep pushing ahead with Unity and that one...or pull out a UFO - whatever calls to you when you’re in the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI like the vibrant colors in Grassy Creek! I'm a poor one to ask when it comes to UFO vs current project vs something new. :-)
ReplyDeletei like your less-scrappy version of the GC blocks.
ReplyDeleteI like your version of the GC blocks. With all-scrappy everything kind of mooshes together. (Gloriously, but mooshed nonetheless.)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very cozy way to spend time with the Scientist in Training!
ReplyDeleteI love that Grassy Creek block, and the bright green that always makes me smile makes a lovely accent! I hope you are happy with it.
ReplyDeleteYour stars quilt is so pretty with the striped fabric placed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear SIT is still stitching with you.
I now realize that Grassy Creek is not all red, but jut bits of it. It is very pretty!
