It's that time of year where the days just seem to fly by. I've been on vacation since last Friday, but I still have to check my work email and deal with any problems that come up. I've been trying to keep that to a minimum. We've been hanging out, going for walks (the weather has been really nice for December) and I've been stitching a bit. Not as much as I had planned, but I'm getting in a few hours each day. There was good progress on last week's To Do List.
- Frolic: Finish stitching down the binding ✔
- Morewood Mystery: Continue to work on the Dec. clue ✔
- Grassy Creek: Start clues 3 and 4 - progress
- Unity: Finish step 5 - progress
Daisy Chain Mystery, 2019 Little Bunny Quilts Mystery by Alison of Honey, Bunny & Doll Designs |
Daisy Chain showed up in the mail a full 10 days after Trudy had mailed it back. I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see it again. The quilting looks great. I'm going to bind it in the same black that's in the last border. But first I need to make the binding and trim up the quilt. If I can get that done this week, then hopefully I'll have time to stitch on the binding and do all the hand stitching before the end of the year. So Daisy Chain will either be my last finish for 2020 (#7) or my first finish of 2021.
Unity, 2020 Bonnie Hunter Sew-In-Place Quilt Along |
The bottom border is all stitched together, it just needs to be stitched to the rest of the quilt. That should get done today. Step 6 is making a bunch of HSTs and Step 7 is making the block for the final full round. I'm not making the same block that Bonnie used for round 6, so I won't need as many HSTs, so hopefully the blocks will go together faster.
Your mystery quilts are fabulous! Each one of those Bonnie Hunter projects looks to be such a massive undertaking. Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteBonnie's quilts involve so much that I have only made one of them, I am saving instructions but do not know if I will make it until I see someone finish theirs and then I will know if I want to. Enjoy your vacation but it doesn't seem like much of a vacation if you still have to check work email and solve problems!
ReplyDeleteA little bit of sewing each day makes it a good day, I think! (But so do walks and time with your family!) Hooray for Daisy Chain being close to a finish and progress on Unity, too. Have a wonderful Christmas, Kate!
ReplyDeleteThe unity quilt looks great!! I finally just downloaded all of Bonnie's latest and decided I'll start it after the holidays. I might get some fabrics pulled if I need a "fix" but that's probs as much as I'll get done till next year. Will be my first of hers. They seem to be a big undertaking! IMO, you've done great so far!
ReplyDeleteWe've had unseasonably warm weather for December too. No snow at all, but we might see a flurry tomorrow. Hope you get LOTS of time to do exactly what you want over the next few days - stitching or other things.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so pretty, will make the perfect spring bed quilt or throw.
ReplyDeleteUnity is looking really good - you've chosen such pretty fabrics for it. Yay for keeping up!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! Wow - 10 shipping days. I would have been worried sick, too. I don't think I remember Daisy Chain, or at least not by the corner picture you've shared. A black binding will be just perfect and I love a good hand stitching project. I love how Unity is turning out, and that the flying geese are just at the top and bottom. And Grassy Creek isn't going anywhere - you can catch up when you're in the mood! I wish you and your family a very Happy Holidays. Thank you for linking up this week. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your quilt made it back to you! Hope you find plenty of time for family activities and sewing this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your unity quilt.
