I've been following along with Quilting Gail's 2020 PHD.
The goal is to finish 12 UFOs, plus finish any quilts you start during the year (other then quilt alongs that won't finish before the end of the year). I'm not going to finish 12 quilts this year and I'm probably not going to finish the one quilt I started that doesn't carry over to next year. Here's my report card so far this year.
There's one more finish on the list and one more new start. But Grassy Creek, Bonnie Hunter's 2020 mystery, won't finish till next year so I don't have to worry about getting that one done by the end of the month. Same with the Morewood Mystery, it won't finish till next spring.
The one new finish is the 2019 Christmas Mystery quilt.
That brings my total finishes to five.
Frolic is next up on the to be finished list.

The quilt is trimmed, label made and assembling the binding strips is in progress. So getting in a sixth finish is really likely.
Daisy Chain was mailed out to be quilted the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and didn't get delivered to Trudy till yesterday.

I'm not sure if this one will make it back in time for me to finish it this year. The label is mostly done, I just need to know if it's a this month or next year finish before I can finalize the label. I haven't decided on the binding yet. If I can decide on that, I could make the binding and then be ready to go when it does come back.
Red, White and Blue Stars become a finished quilt top last month.

I still need to piece the backing. This one may get sent out for quilting before the end of the year, but it's too late to get it finished for this year.
I've made good progress on Unity.

You have had a very productive year!
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas mystery quilt is very fun!
Wow that's a whole lot of finishes! I just love seeing the Christmas one all done. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes--I would say that considering this past year and all the stress and such--you have done a great job--and remember all your quilts are large ones--where as others include wall hangings and smaller items--so feel good about what you have done this year--

These are all fantastic finishes! I’d be hard-pressed to choose a favorite.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteAwesome job whittling down your UFO's. I've been working on my UFO list this year. I got 6 done out of 30, but some of those are in the works. All your quilts are beautiful. Have a great day!
You have some beautiful finishes, even if not the quantity you hoped for. Quality over quantity.
ReplyDeleteI'm always impressed with how you stick with projects and what you do finish, Kate! Looking forward to seeing Frolic all done!
ReplyDeleteYou did so well this year! Now just keep that focus and you will be done with UFOs, well, until you make a new one!
ReplyDeleteFinishing more quilts than you started this year is SEW good, Kate!! Best of luck on your PhD in 2021.
ReplyDeleteI think I will join you on the 2021 PhD. My number of UFOS is abysmal, and of course, I keep starting new ones! I love the quilts you finished this year.
ReplyDeleteI briefly tried to start your 15 minutes to stitch, but didn't make it for too long, but I will also be doing that next year!
Pretty finish on your Christmas quilt, and just in time! Love your Unity quilt. I'm jealous of your finishes! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the finishes and near-finishes! I ambitiously tried to join you on your PhD quest, but gave up when 2020 went wacko. I'm happy with the progress I've made on long-term UFOs, even if they are not quite finished in 2020. That's enough for me. As for you, I'm impressed with the projects you finished and the tops completed. Good job! Sandy at sewhigh.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI think you've done great this year! Your quilts are always so detailed with so many pieces and I love seeing your projects grow and get finished. Six for the year, especially this year, is great!
ReplyDeleteYou did great!! I am impressed with the record keeping... And how many finishes you had!
ReplyDeleteIt’s been a great sewing year for you - and you didn’t even mention all the masks you made this year!
