Weekly Stitching and the One Monthly Goal

No rain last night for the first time since last Monday, but it did rain yesterday morning.  The river is still rising due to rain north of us.  It's been a rough week in Oklahoma.  Lots of storm damage and continued flooding across the state.  Doesn't look like this week is going to provide much relief. Hoping the forecasts are wrong.

With all the rain, it's been a good weekend to just stay home and stitch. I finished off my one monthly goal Friday night.

The goal was to finish piecing all the blocks for the center of Storm at Sea.

Storm at Sea
Paper Piecing Class by Carrie Randell (Quilter's Hideaway)

I'm really happy with how this SaS is coming together.  I've been stitching the blocks together and should have the center assembled sometime today.

My Guy wants this quilt for our bed, but it needs some borders added to get it big enough.  I've got the border layout worked out, but I still need to decide which fabrics go where.  Here's my two leading contenders at the moment (meaning My Guy hasn't seen either yet).

I'm having a hard time deciding between the two.  My Guy tends to be pretty decisive, so he'll probably be pretty definite and like neither of these.

  4. Storm at Sea is such an amazing pattern, with the movement it gives! I like your border ideas, too. Wishing you a storm-free week, if that is possible!

  5. With all the rain you’ve had, Storm at Sea seems the perfect quilt to be working on. I really like both layouts, but if someone forces me to choose one, I’d pick the second one. I like the green in the border. Kind of ties it all together somehow. It’s gorgeous, and it will be gorgeous on your bed.

  6. Wow -- this is just lovely. Good luck making a decision about the border. I really like your top so far. Are all the colors tone on tones or is the royal blue a solid? It really will be a terrific quilt no matter which border you decide on. (Arghh - do you realize that your Captcha is nearly impossible to get through?)

  7. Congrats on getting all your SaS blocks done. Both borders look great; something about the all-blue one appeals to me more than the one with green in it. I hope your husband likes one of the ones you've designed.

  10. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! This design is on my bucket list too. Not that my opinion matters, but I'll share it with you anyway. Hee! Hee! I prefer the one with the blue border mostly for practical reasons. They both look great but if the edges are white, it seems like that is where dirt would show up first, especially on a quilt that gets used a lot.

  11. I noticed that one of your commenters, Bonnie, said she is having a rough time with your Captcha. Find out if she is using a Mac. If so, it is probably a setting on her computer. I might have a solution for her.

  12. Hi Kate! Oh, I didn't realize you were in OK. Gosh, you guys have been really have the tornadoes and bad weather. My nephew lives in Allen, OK - southern part of the state - and has been sharing all the warnings, etc. on FB. We've had so much rain up here - southern Wisconsin - and that water has to head your way. I'm sorry about that - it goes to the Mississippi and then naturally heads to the Gulf. Iowa has been so flooded, it is crazy. Anyway - love how you SaS is coming along!! If you're asking for opinions on the layout, I would pick the first one with the thicker blue border. It seems to bring the center more into focus for me, but see what DH wants! I look forward to seeing what you end up with. ~smile~ Roseanne
