We were off work Friday, so I spent as much time as I could in the sewing room, it was too cold and rainy to do much else. By mid Friday afternoon, I'd finished my February One Monthly Goal.
The plan for February was to get all the borders on the Christmas Angels quilt.
Christmas Angels Pattern by Kate |
All those borders are now in place, Christmas Angels is a finished flimsy. I'm really happy with how this quilt turned out, though the photo's not great. I just didn't have time to get a good one with all the other stuff going on this weekend. It's easier to see that the dark fabric is green from the right side of the photo. Here's a close up that shows the fabrics better.
The quilt has not been pressed yet, so please ignore all the wrinkles.
The backing fabrics have been selected from the stash, a piecing plan worked out, the fabrics cut to size and stitching started. So I should have a back ready before next weekend. Then comes the not fun step of cleaning up the loose threads and pressing both the flimsy and the back. My least favorite step of the process. Even so, I'm hoping to have this project sent off to be quilted before mid-March.
That's it for me this week. Linking up with:
This looks fantastic! Good luck trimming the treads.
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt. I think I have those angels in my stash. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt’s beautiful. Great job. Congratulations finishing your monthly goal. Sometimes getting them pushed over the flimsy edge is a challenge, and this turned out great.
ReplyDeleteWonderful flimsy. You did a great job on them. I hate the trimming part but as a long armer I thank you for doing that, not everybody does! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Congratulations on finishing another flimsy. You are making great progress on so many quilts already this year!
ReplyDeleteChristmas Angels is such a pretty quilt. Congrats! on a flimsy finish!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! You’ve done a great job making progress this year.
ReplyDeleteThat dark green is really pretty! Congratulations on meeting your goal, Kate, and moving this one along!
ReplyDeleteOoh! Kate, this is so gorgeous! Glad you had a good albeit brief time with the SIT. Spring Break - ahh, I love that phrase!
ReplyDeleteNice you can visit with SIT not too far away and provide meals :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the flimsy finish. Ugh, I am not fond of sewing on all those boring plain borders, currently stalling on that job in my sewing room.
Does your quilter require such rigorous clean up of threads? My theory is the batting hides the white threads and unless there is a whole lot of dark threads on the white blocks, an hour is about all I allot for thread clean up!
Your quilt top looks lovely! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That is a gorgeous quilt. I noticed your caption that this is your own design. Have you thought of marketing it?
ReplyDeleteYour Angels look great all bordered up and ready for quilting!
ReplyDeleteYay for progress! It's amazes how a little bit each day adds up to finishes eventually!
ReplyDeleteWhat wrinkles? All I can see is your newly completed quilt top. It's lovely, Kate!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a stunning quilt. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and three days in advance. Yoo Hoo.
ReplyDeleteDinner and brunch...sounds yummy. I want to be busy in exactly that way :-D

ReplyDeleteWhat marvellous piecing on your borders for you Angel quilt. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEven better up close. Happy Stitching!
This is a wonderful Christmas quilt. It'll be so gorgeous when quilted! (Well, it's gorgeous already.) :) - Hey - find out from your longarmer if you actually have to press the whole back, other than the seams. Many of us don't need you to do that.
