We had our first really severe storm of the spring last night. The one advantage of the cooler weather this year is that we haven't had any tornadoes. Oklahoma usually has about 20% of our annual tornado strikes in April, but there were none last month. May storm season certainly got kicked off with a bang last night. Lightening struck the tornado siren closest to our house and it went off about 11 PM last night. At least I now know that the siren will wake me up. My Guy slept through it.
Since it is a new month, it's time to decide on what to tackle on the UFO list and link up with the May One Monthly Goal.
This month's goal is to do a little early Christmas present sewing. All the blocks are made.
The final layout has been planned.
The goal is get this project to the finished flimsy stage by the end of the month. That may be a bit of a challenge as we've got some family stuff planned. We'll just have to see how it goes. Any progress would be good.
The angel quilt will be my number one priority this month, but I can't work on just one project. Here's what else is in the works for May.
1. Christmas Angels (May OMG)
2. En Provence - bind
3. Vintage Dresses - finish to flimsy stage
4. Magnolia Mystery - prep for quilting
5. Squared Away - finish yellow blocks
finish pink/rose blocks
6. Inverted Star - finish yellow blocks
finish pink/rose blocks
7. On Ringo Lake - leaders and enders project
It's an ambitious list and not all of it will get done. But I make better progress during the month with a set of ordered priorities.
Linking up with Patty over at Elm Street Quilts for this month's One Monthly Goal. Wishing you good luck and ample stitching time to finish your May OMG.
Pretty quilt. Mike is on the border of Illinois and Iowa. We were a little worried about “damaging hail” last night, but none happened...just rain. I’ll be glad when he moves along today.
ReplyDeleteit's never too early yo start Christmas:)
ReplyDeleteThat's a fair size list, good luck with your monthly goal, it's always nice to get a jump on Christmas and it will be a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeletePerfect Christmas quilt.
ReplyDeleteThose angels are so lovely! Great Christmas project :)
ReplyDeleteI think they said that Florida starts the Hurricane season end of the month--I still haven't gotten over last years hurricane and out dock is still not open from it--though it should be as it is safe--the office is just being slow and mean about it--they don't like the dock!!!
ReplyDeleteYour goals are good ones--looking forward to seeing the Christmas come together--what size is it??? looks large to me--
enjoy, and stay safe, di
I really like the layout for the angel quilt. I have a panel with St Nicolas style Santas that would probably work with this layout. Of course there are a million other things in line before I could work on that, but thanks for the idea and good luck with OMG.
ReplyDeletePat
Great blocks. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project!
ReplyDeleteI love these angles and your setting plan looks beautiful. Tornado season is scary! My mom is in Kansas and had a storm the same night as you did. They are not as common here in North Carolina so we don't have the sirens.
ReplyDeleteLove the angel quilt. I'll be rooting for you to finish that one this year.
ReplyDeleteNot looking forward to tornado sirens in the coming months. It's mostly a summer thing here, but we sometimes get them into November.
That is a pretty quilt. It's good to get an early start for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI heard about those storms in OK and wondered if you got any of them. Just Monday I talked to a friend who lives near OKC and she said they hadn't had a single tornado warning. We haven't even had a tornado watch here.
