Week 14 of 2018: Stitching and De-stashing

Other than the stress that comes with doing the taxes, it's been a very nice weekend.  It's also been a very cold weekend. We woke up to snow yesterday morning.  That's pretty unusual for our neck of the woods.  But it was really nice not to have to go anywhere in that cold.  There's nothing on the agenda for today, well except to finish the taxes.  But before I get back to that, it's more fun to look back at how things went in the sewing room this week.

Finding time to stitch was on track since there were no pesky business trips to tire me out.

Days with stitching this week:  7 out of 7 days
Days with stitching this month:  7 out of 7 days
Days with stitching this year:  89 out of 97 days
Success rate:  91.8%

Mr Linky is all set up below for you share how well you did at finding time to stitch this week.

De-stashing is going slowly at the moment, but there is a bit out with nothing in for the week.

Fabric used this week:  0.39 yards
Fabric used in 2018:  16.58 yards
Fabric purchased in 2018:  4 yards
Net fabric out for 2018:  12.58 yards

Linking up with Quiltpaintcreate for the stash report this week.

Since I'm on a fabric diet, it seems I've switched my focus to patterns.  When we were in Texas last month, I picked up a few for my collection.

I'm playing with ideas for a new quilt for my bed. Urban Cabin is in contention for that project.  The Tulip Fields jumped in my basket I think because we'd seen the tulip farm the day before.  It would be a fun scrappy project for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I haven't started many new quilts the last few years as the UFO list really needs to be a bit shorter, but I'm hoping that happens this year and I can play with several new projects next year.  Keeping up with my daily stitching time will help get me there.   How successful were you at finding time to stitch this week?

  1. It's OK to start a new project if it is going to help reduce the stash ... at least that's MY justification!

  2. Urban Cabin is the pattern I used with the cat fabrics last year. Once everything is cut, it goes together fast. The other patterns are nice too. I don't think Crabapple Hill has ever put out a pattern I didn't like.

  3. I like the Urban Cabin also, but not til I finish a few more UFOs.

  7. Pretty patterns. I always tell Mike, even if I never make it, I still feel better having it in my collection.

  8. Only thing worse than preparing taxes is paying taxes. LOL
I'm with you in stash busting so we can start NEW projects next year...this month I will have my fifth stash project completed! Yeah. Though I don't keep count....but I know the fat quarters in my stash are dwindling and I love it!! Snow! Such crazy weather this year....well enjoy your day of R and R sewing. :)

  9. I like your patterns, especially the tulips. It looks like your kind of pattern. Good lucky with your taxes, especially the OK. I think that one was harder than the Fed, at least the Non-resident was.

  10. Ha I am the same as you, on a fabric diet so I keep buying books and patterns. I have liked Urban Cabins for years so I would love to see that one made.

  11. All three are fabulous; I'd have a hard time deciding and just make all of 'em, ha! I do like Urban Cabin, though, maybe because of the colour palette?! Snow? Aren't you south of me, up here on Lake Erie? No snow, lots of sun today but a biting wind and temps around 3C which is 37/38F...way below normal for us too!

  13. Ugh, I have to finish my taxes this week - no rush as we are paying this year, so I have to rally to get it done! Great patterns that you added!

  15. I love the patterns you selected in Texas. Have fun dreaming about making them. I do.

Where did you get your vintage dress pattern? I might want to make it.
