Thankfully, this weekend was relatively quiet and my sewing room was a nice place to hang out. There was progress on a lot of fronts, but most of it's not picture worthy. Geek Chic is moving right along. The last set of blocks are ready for stitching, but that project had to come off the design wall so En Provence could go back up.
En Provence, A Bonnie Hunter Mystery (2016) |
For some reason, I started with the bottom rows. One row of sashing and one row of blocks are now assembled, with one row of sashing partially assembled. There are lots of seams to match on these blocks. Took forever to pin the rows together! Getting this to finished flimsy stage is going to take some time.
That was my progress for the weekend. Linking up with:

Your Bonnie Mystery is so pretty with such vibrant colours. Just like your header quilts! In my work life there was nothing better than a long weekend to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! Have you ever tried webbing the top as Bonnie does? http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/webbing-top-or-how-to-chain-stitch.html
ReplyDeleteI find it gets it off the design wall sooner, and gets it to the finished top stage quicker. This is my least favorite part of quilting and so I tried webbing and like it. Very pretty colors in your version, and thanks for sharing with Design Wall Monday.
This looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour En Provence blocks look great together! Bonnie's mystery quilts generally aren't quick and easy to put together, but they are definitely worth the time.
ReplyDeleteNice!!!! and Yay - its on the wall again! I love your colors!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great all lined up there! Hope the work week is not actually as astressful as it sounds.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be that time of year, when time in general is short and many things need attention. Your En Provence quilt is coming together so nicely! It won't be long and you'll have it wrapped up. The fabrics you chose are just beautiful and I'm sure the picture doesn't do it justice. ~smile~ Roseanne
Lovely colorway!
ReplyDeleteAny progress is still progress--I know we often want to see our progress go faster--but sometimes it just crawls--but even crawling we can get to the finish line--as long as we keep at it--and those colors should keep you 'crawling' so pretty to work with--
ReplyDeleteenjoy the moments,di--even those long days at work--
Progress is good...this will be a flimsy before you know it. Matching seams does take a lot of time and sometimes I'm tempted to skip some of the pinning, but I'm always glad I don't. It's looking so good! Have a great week and I hope you don't have too much homework!
ReplyDeleteGood progress being made and it's looking fantastic. Reminds me of a Kaliedoscope. Enjoy your daughter's visit home...I know you will:)
ReplyDeleteI am also working on En Provence. It is so fun to see the different colors makers have selected. Love the name of your blog!
ReplyDeleteSounds like some good progress over the weekend - hope your week goes quickly so the weekend with your daughter gets here soon 😊
ReplyDeleteGlad you are moving this one along! Such pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty! I hear ya on the seam matching.... it was a big challenge as I remember because none of my seams were butting properly and it was tough going.
ReplyDeleteBut it's such a great quilt, so keep going!
It's looking fantastic, Kate.
ReplyDeleteSo much is hating your world, I’ve just had a lovely time reading all the posts I missed. En Provence is coming together beautifully, as your quilts always do. Have a lovely time with your daughter when she arrives.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I dislike pinning but it makes the seams line up so well.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the lots of seams to match - my mum's quilt is like that and I'm still at the blocks stage! I just LOVE your En Provence...I may have said that more than once...
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. All that seam matching can get tedious, but it will be worth it when it's done. Hope you got a nice raise with the new job to make up for all the extra work.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the pinning. I would pin a row while I was watching Tv and then sew it together later. yours is certainly coming along great
