I'm a sucker for flowers and this block was no exception. It didn't hurt that there are still some 1930 reproduction scraps that I'd like to get moved out of the stash. So Lea's block was the inspiration for Blooms and Butterflies. which is supposed to end up looking something like this

But at the moment actually looks like this:
Only one of the blooms is actually sewn together, the two on the second row are still in progress. The framed squares for the border have become my leaders and enders project since Poinsettias is close to being a finished flimsy. Two butterflies of the 20 something needed for the border are started, but none are completely assembled as yet. Considering what else is going on in the sewing room, I'm not unhappy with my progress this month. This has been a really fun project to work on and it's definitely help reduce the 1930 reproduction scraps in the stash.

ReplyDeleteWhat cute little flower pots! I love Lea's patterns. You know, I do planning and goal-setting for my business, but not for my quilting. I cut up fabric and sew it back together to relax, not to give myself something else to stress out about or feel guilty about. After all, people who golf or fish or bake or play music to relax don't set goals about how many times they will smack the ball this year, or how they must catch 100 trout before they can catch any other kind of fish, or whatever. I plan to work on whatever I want, start whatever I want whenever I want, and finish nothing except accidentally. ;-)

ReplyDeleteI was tempted to join in on this qa. I love all of the projects that Lea does and she is so generous with her tutorials and patterns. Your flowers look so pretty in the fabrics you are using. Hmm, maybe I could make just one, for a sweet mini quilt..... :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am definitely with Rebecca Grace on the planning part. I feel like maybe I *should* have a plan, but I just don't. I am so impressed by those who do plan. I just haven't found a way to do it that doesn't give me an ulcer! LOL

ReplyDeleteVery pretty, very spring-like. Actually I think just looking at the quilt makes the summer heat (and humidity) more bearable.
