I've not felt much like stitching, but there is only so much sleeping one can do even when you don't feel well. Playing on the computer is one way to forget the throbbing in my brain, face, teeth. We are on the downhill slide to the end of October (really?). So I've been contemplating what can realistically get done this year and what is the plan for next year. Another Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt is definitely in the plans for next year. My quilt pattern file is pretty full, so I have lots of inspiration to pull from. There's the School House blocks, paper pieced Row Houses, and Geese Migration that are already on the possible list. Here's the latest possibility.
Crazee Patch Heart, block pattern by Marcia Wachuta, available here. |
These paper pieced blocks are 7 X 7, so I'd definitely make more than 12, but that was enough to mock up how they might work out. I'm not at all sure about the red borders and sashing, but I do like the hearts.
The plan is to do some stitching this afternoon, after a few of the household chores are all done. The goal is to get at least one brown Twinkle Star block made before the end of the month. Now it's time for a second cup of coffee and a peak at what's posted over at Soscrappy.
Hope you continue to feel better . . . I hate being sick!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I don't have fall allergies, but both kids do, so there's been lots of runny noses and whining. And it's very late in our October for no frost yet - usually we have snow by Halloween! I can't believe we're already thinking about next year. I need to catch up majorly!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon. I know what it's like to be laid out by a headache and/or allergies. I'm starting a collection of ideas for next year's RSC too. There are an awful lot of really tempting blocks out there!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying seeing all the rainbow scraps in blogland so i'm thinking of joining in next year. I just need to settle on a theme
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon. So many quilt possibilities. You'll find just the right one in time for January.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the Rainbow Schoolhouse quilt and the Geese Migration in your plans for RSC16! Hope you are feeling better soon so that you can get back to your RSC15 goals.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the hearts for RSC, but I wouldn't bother to paper piece them. I'd just find a way to strip piece and apply stitch-and-flip corners, although you'd have to work something out on the top indention .....
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better. Love your ideas for Rainbow quilts. I'm trying to decide what I might want to make next year.
ReplyDeleteI love your Rainbow ideas. I'm trying to decide about next year, too. I'm afraid I'll bite off too many patterns - I'll either end up with lots of quilts, or I'll be gibbering in a corner somewhere. It's too early to call...
ReplyDeletepollen, leaf mold... headaches here too. You'll soon be putting the needle and thread together again. Best not to tempt fate when your head hurts... LEeAnna
ReplyDeleteOh I hope that you feel better soon / lovely hearts! :)
ReplyDeleteThose hearts look very good together and I like the red. After all, they are hearts. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteSinus issues are the pits. Hope it improves for you soon. Thanks for the links to the tutorials. The Geese Migration is just wonderful
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by! and you know we're not feeling well, when we cant' even drag ourselves around to sew! hope you feel better soon. (we had our first light frost this AM, with 2 more nights of heavy frost expected)
ReplyDeleteAlready looking forward to next year. The hearts are a great string using pattern. Looking forward to seeing what you choose.
ReplyDeleteYou're a brave woman to consider a paper-pieced block. I know how to paper piece...just hate doing it. I do like the look, however, and your quilt looks great.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the hearts. Hope you are feeling better soon, dear.
ReplyDeleteBoo on allergies!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying looking forward to next year too.
