Weekend Stitching - Another Finish in the Works

Did you stay up and watch the lunar eclipse last night?  I watched till totality then gave it up and went to bed.  My Guy was out till about 11 with his camera and tripod.  I tried to take a few photos, but my telephoto lens wasn't really telephoto enough to get any good shots.

Most of last night was spent out on the drive way, but most of the afternoon was spent in the sewing room.  The next to last border is on Back to Square One.

Back to Square One by Judy Laquidara (pattern available here)

It's way too big for the design wall, but you still get a good idea of how it's coming along.  The narrow dark purple border is attached.  Just one last border of the darker blue and this one will be a finished flimsy.  I'm hoping I have enough fabric in the stash to make a backing for it.

So what did you stitch up this weekend?  I'm sharing my progress over at Design Wall Monday, Making Monday and Design Board Monday.

  6. All around great quilt. We watched the moon last night too, our picture didn't turn out either.

  7. We're on central time, so the beginning of the eclipse was at a reasonable hour. My husband went to bed and I went out later (about 11:00) to watch the end of the eclipse. But back to quilting: I love your medallion -- great colorway!

  9. It gets prettier with every addition. We were so mad about the eclipse. We thought it would be later, and then realized we'd nearly missed the whole thing. Celestial events disappoint us every time...no matter how hard we try...it's maddening. And even more so this time since it was completely our fault.

  10. This is so pretty. Each block is so simple, but together it all makes an intricate design. Really lovely.

  11. Beautiful! I like the palette and how the white in the log cabin blocks frames everything and makes the colors stand out.

  12. Back to Square One is looking great. You are so close to a finish! We didn't see the eclipse, too many clouds here in northern Indiana. villacrestfarm@gmail.com

  13. Lovely! I look forward to the last border getting added! We were under clouds so saw no moon last night. Sigh.

  14. We mostly watched the live feed from Griffith Observatory, but lots of the neighborhood was out peering through the clouds.

The quilt is so pretty! You should be "totally stoked" in your color planning and execution.

  17. Loving these colors, what a pretty quilt this will be. Luckily I am on the west coast so I was able to see the super blood moon (or whatever they're calling it!) without having to stay up too late!

  22. Love your quilt. The colors are so clear and wonderful. I too finished a quilt, but haven't taken pictures yet. We had clouds in our area, so we couldn't see the moon even before the eclipse. ha. At 11 I looked out and there it was, big and bright right over our skylight that shines into my bathroom.

  23. Way to go!

We stayed up with the kids until totality. I'm sure the neighbors thought we were nuts because we played tag in the dark to keep the kids busy. I loved being out in the country, once again, because we had no city lights to interfere.
