I was looking back at my progress this year and remembered that back on February 1st, I posted these photos of all the yardage that's tied up in my UFOs and WIPs.
Pretty much the same fabrics, though fabrics have been added to the stack for the Midnight Mystery quilt and the backing For Grand Illusion. So if you look closely, the stack has actually grown an inch since February.
I'm not sure that's so bad, it means that at some point the fabric will go out of the stash as it has a designated place to go. As of this morning the stack is already a little lower because I've started cutting out the back for Grand Illusion. I've only pulled one fabric out of the stack since February and that was the black background fabric I used for Flame Test. But I have been cutting from other fabrics in the stack. If you take off the backing fabric for Grand Illusion that I added on Friday, it looks like the stack has dropped by about 0.5 inch so far this year. It's not really a great measure of fabric out because any left overs go back into the stash, but is another way to assess progress on the 20 plus UFOs and WIPs in progress.
You can check out other stash reports over at Patchwork Times.
Do you keep your designated fabric all together in a visible location? I tend to put it in a project box, then forget I have it. I'm also bad about raiding those boxes when I need the fabric for something else .....
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea to put those fabrics apart from the main stash. Like Libby, I tend to put it in project boxes and then forget I have it. I may try your method next time.
ReplyDeleteSlow but steady progress gets a thumbs up! Hard to believe how fast this year has gone so far...
ReplyDeleteWay to go!
ReplyDeleteYou had good numbers for last month. I like the process you showed for keeping up with how much fabric you have designated to WIPs. My way is more like Libby's I put it somewhere and then forget what I did with the fabric.
ReplyDeleteHum, the benefit of separating project fabric means I you are more aware of it. I'd worry I'd grab something that I needed to save for a specific project. I'd rather put the fabric in a project box instead of using it and not ha in it for something specific. I'm working on UFOs mostly this year. It's pretty satisfying to mark something off the list!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I understand how your fabric stack is growing if you are pulling from it to use in current UFO's. But I like all the great looking fabric in that stack!!
