Saturday night was Drama Teen's Winter Formal, so there was a bit of time spent doing hair and make up, as well as making a few adjustments to her dress. Plus, it was a wonderful warm and sunny weekend. We took advantage of the nice weather on Sunday and went to the park for a nice long walk. So not as much time was spent in the sewing room.
In spite of all the activities, a bit of progress was made on the little design wall.
Grand Illusion - A Bonnie Hunter Mystery and Inverted Starby Jessica Boschem of Common Threads available from Craftsy as a free download |
The second row of Grand Illusion is starting to take shape. I'm going to use all the block pieces I've gotten finished, then decide if I need to make any more to finish off this quilt. My version won't be as big as Bonnie's.
All the red-violet pieces of the last Inverted Star block are going to need to be moved soon. It only needs 6 more HSTs before I can start stitching it together. Then I'll have to find another white in my stash to finish it off as I don't have any more of the white I used in the HSTs.
On the other design wall, the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler hasn't changed any, but I have added a few more parts to the pieced border.
I need to get going on this border if I want to have it done by the end of the month.
That's it for my design wall process this week. I'm linking up to Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday.
Wow! Grand Illusion is already marvelous. Can't wait to see that finished!
ReplyDeleteWhenever there is more than one extra activity in our weekend, the moments until Monday seem to arrive much more quickly. Did you make DT's dress for the dance?
Your border is turning out great. And that Grand Illusion is just lovely. Around here we all think at least a 3 day weekend should be the norm!
ReplyDeleteI made the smaller GI, too. I had mixed feelings about it but as I see all the versions I like it more and more. I am retired and weekends are still too short!
ReplyDeleteBoth projects look good. I really like the single fabric for each color, that is what you did? And the color challenge piece is wonderful. I like what you've shown but I suspect these aren't the inside of the quilt? Sorry the weekend zoomed by so fast.
ReplyDeleteLove your border pieces for the rainbow stars ....it's so colourful and enticing to look at.
ReplyDeleteNice progress on your mystery quilt Kate. It looks like the mystery is well on the way to being solved ?
Love the border; it coming along nicely! Can't wait to see it attached to your flimsy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a lovely but busy weekend even if you didn't get much time in the sewing room.
So many beautiful projects on your design walls!
ReplyDeleteImpressive group of blocks! I can't wait to see the Inverted Stars all laid out. And I'm intrigued by the chevron border!
