I've done some stitching on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler, but not enough for it to look much different than last week. I'm still working on the gray Inverted Star.

It needs a few more HSTs and 4 squares before it can be stitched up. Some of the colors look almost brown in the photo, they look much more gray in real life.
I've been playing on the computer with the Twinkle Star blocks that are the planned project for next year's challenge. The aim is to develop a secondary pattern in the quilt. I wasn't a big fan of all the white space created when the block corners are just white squares, but sashing the blocks and adding corner stones fixes that problem.
Here are a few other possibilities.
There is a little bit of time before I have to settle on a final block for next year's challenge.
That's it for me this week. Happy Holidays and may all your holiday preparations go smoothly. You can check out more scrappy projects over at Soscrappy.
I think the original block had a small square in the outer corner of each block. Set with cornerstones, they would give a nice nine patch as a secondary design. I love the triangles though as a churn dash effect. Maybe a tiny bit smaller to give the blocks a tiny bit more space? So many design possibilities. I just love new quilts!
ReplyDeleteLove the second option best but they are all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like the second or third option. I still haven't decided on a setting for this year's RSC...or a block for next year.
ReplyDeleteNice designs; I like the snowball corners most. How do they look without sashings and cornerstones?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family Kate! I have to be honest........I LOVE the first "possibility" you posted! You could use up even more scraps of various colors in the HST's in the corners!
ReplyDeleteAll the designs look good. It is a hard decision though
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty settings. I like the last one and first one. Good luck on your selection. It will look great no matter which setting you choose.
ReplyDeleteI like how bright the first one is. Reminds me of a kaliedescope
ReplyDeleteOh my! I like the second and third options. So much fun.
ReplyDeleteSome great inspiration for 2015 there!
ReplyDeleteI finally downloaded "Inverted Stars" today!
I like the second option with the different colored backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking plans for the Twinkle Stars. I like the second to last choice with the grey.
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to decide what to make next year.
I love the second to last option, but they're all beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the layout of the 3rd star quilt. WOW!
