The rain held off till almost dark last night. It was a wet weekend, though it wasn't as cold as last weekend was. It's still drier than normal so the wet weekend was welcome, well My Guy would have been more welcoming if he hadn't been on his way home from a bike ride. Thankfully he got home before the sky really let loose.
So what do I have to show for my weekend? Just the back of Scrappy Stars. It's too big to put it up on the design wall, so it's draped over the cutting table.
I used up a lot of the left over fabric in the back, including a few fabrics that were bought for the project but ended up not being used. This quilt is all pressed and packaged to ship to Trudy for quilting. It always amazes me how long it takes to press everything and get all the loose threads off. That took most of the afternoon, so not a lot of stitching this weekend. But I'm off all week, so I should get a bit more done than normal.
Check out all the other design walls over at Patchwork Times.
I just love the look of that back.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing yesterday morning! Good to know I was in good company...then it took me another hour to get everything on the longarm...LOL!! By then I was too tired to quilt. hahah!!
ReplyDeleteIt does take a while to press and "clean up" a quilt to prepare it for quilting. It's so worth it, though. Great job using up fabric for your backing. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteI know you had expressed doubts about that scrappy back but honestly - I love it !!
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing this week.
I love a pieced back but they definitely eat up time! Wish it were rainy here. It was 79 and windy today. Our fire season will never end! Have a great time with sewing on your free hours. I'm sure you'll all be missing your MIL this holiday.
ReplyDeletePieced backings do take a lot longer, but they are such a great way to use up all sorts of extras. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good-looking backing!
ReplyDeleteThe backing looks great!!
ReplyDeleteThe backing is pretty -- nice way to use up some stash, right?? Way to go, getting it off to be quilted!! :)
