So there was no Drama Teen who needed to be carted somewhere and it was so cold even My Guy just wanted to stay home. I got my wish of a "stay at home" weekend. Though it's hard to tell from what's up on the design wall, that meant a lot of time in the sewing room. Most of the activity this weekend focused on cutting fabric, not so much stitching it back together. But there have been a few additions to the design wall.
Celtic Solstice grew by two blocks.

I've got lots of 4 patches and split triangles made, but I need to cut more fabric to make more chevrons and triangle in a square blocks. Since I need to focus on some other projects, CS is probably coming off the design wall later this week.
A few more Rainbow Scrap Challenge Sampler blocks were completed.

I'm enjoying making these little blocks. The Tic-Tac-Toe one was a bit of a challenge to get it all to line up, but it came out OK.
Finally, I pulled out all the pieces of the Drama Teen's Jigsaw quilt and finished up another block.

I promised DT a bed and bath redo this year. Since this quilt is the center piece of that, it needs to get done. These blocks are simple to sew, but keeping up with which tabs go in which blocks has been a challenge. Two more blocks are kitted up and ready to sew. Hopefully those will show up on the design wall next Monday.
That's what's up on my design wall at the moment. Check out Patchwork Times to see what's up elsewhere.
I really like the colors you're using for Celtic Solstice. And I just LOVE that jigsaw puzzle quilt. No, listening for the kids doesn't go away when they go to college...but it does get better. And the time alone with husband gets better too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE your quilts and blocks. The CS looks so hard and yours is great. I have to say that my youngest went to college and after years of really wanting some silence, I got it.
ReplyDeleteMy kids were super busy over achieving great teens. Now I miss it and hubby and I had our first stay at home weekend. It's gonna be a long adjustment. Sniff sniff, and I have to say we have plans to get away for the next month....should be nice.
Love your CS colors. I wanted to keep working on mine but I have to get Easy Street and a couple other projects ready for our guild's quilt show. Love those batiks in the puzzle quilt - that one looks like it definitely requires a design wall for assembly!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is in her second year of college. You do quit listening for them but you never quit wondering what they are doing!!
ReplyDeleteLove the colorful jigsaw puzzle. (I have three jigsaw puzzle quilt patterns. Have yet to make one. )
ReplyDeleteLove the jigsaw puzzle quilt. xxx
ReplyDeleteCS can be such a slow quilt! I ran out of "pieces" last week, so this week was all chevrons and HSTs and Tri-Recs, with no blocks to show for it. Oh well, next week maybe there will be some!
ReplyDeleteEventually you get used to the quiet and it becomes wonderful.Trust me!
ReplyDeleteGreat progress this week on three projects Kate.
It's amazing how much of your own life begins after all the kids leave the house. And, yes, quiet is nice. When they get older and come back with their own families the noise level is amazing but then they go home so all is good. Love that puzzle quilt. And good for you making progress on the CS.
ReplyDeleteI love the jigsaw puzzle quilt -- how fun that is!! Your blue challenge piece is looking good!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have so many great looking projects in the works! I love the colors of the jigsaw puzzle quilt, and your Celtic Solstice is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe jig Saw quilt colors are yummy but it does look like a bit of a mind bender. I had planned to spend the whole weekend sewing but things got in the way. I don't even have a DWM post the first time I've missed in a long while.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors of your CS it's the best one I've seen! Like the jigsaw too.
ReplyDeleteJust what I need, some quiet time at home and it looks like I'll get Saturday all to myself because WM has to attend a training day!
