Moving on to more fun stuff, I did get to sew a bit yesterday. I finally got started on Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice. I got all the fabric pressed, pieces cut for clue 1 and clue 2, and made up a few blocks for both clues.
Celtic Solstice designed by Bonnie Hunter |
I'm making my version from yardage rather than scraps. I've wanted to do one of Bonnie's mystery for years, but never had the time to get all the fabric together. It won't be scrappy, but I'm at least able to participate rather than watch from the side lines. I'm liking the teal/brown combo, though I am a bit concerned that there isn't enough contrast between my two browns. I'm going to try to make at least some blocks as each clue comes out even though I've not finished all the blocks from the previous clues. Hopefully that way I'll be able to keep up with most of the steps.
That's it for my design wall this week. I'm linking up with Judy over at Patchwork Times and with Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice progress post.
Love to see all the different color combinations for CS!
ReplyDeleteYour browns look great, can't wait to see it develop!!
ReplyDeleteThis color combo is going to be fun to see once it's all together. I am always scrappy so I am especially curious.
ReplyDeleteI love your teal and brown color combination. The orange looks great too. Nice progress so far!
ReplyDeleteI like when quilters try a different colour combination for us... like a free test run! LOL Looks great...love that teal fabric!
ReplyDeleteI really like your colors, can't wait to see it evolve.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time to participate, too. Like you, I always enjoyed from the sidelines. Your colors are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love your color combos!! Sorry about the jeep - that might have made me cry in public ;-(
ReplyDeleteBRRR, Bad luck comes in bunches some times. Hope your run is over. I'm hunkered down sewing like crazy to finish last weeks clue this week. Gotta get my Mailing out, but waiting until the sun comes out. At least then it looks warmer... I like the Browns!
ReplyDeleteYour colors are looking good so far. I think there is enough contrast in your browns. I hope my Jeep doesn't hear about yours. It has no heat and it sometimes dies without notice, but I don't want to give it up. Nice that you are joining us for CS.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen too many of Bonnie's quilts done in yardage..will be interesting to see how it comes out!
ReplyDeleteI really like your color choices. I haven't done an online mystery in years. Maybe next time. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt may be too late, but when dh's laptop crashed, we learned from Best Buy that it was much much cheaper to buy a new hard drive than to buy a new computer. We also bought the Geek Plan when we bought my computer and it covered 3 computers, so the labor on his was free.
I won't get done w the steps till WAY after the reveal! I like the idea of the consistancy of the quilt you are making. NICE!
ReplyDeleteYou know there is a Facebook page too. It's a 'secret' group. not closed, but you have to request membership
wonderful color choices. it will be interesting to see this mystery quilt develop.
ReplyDeletetake good care.

ReplyDeletethere are no capital letters on the computer i am using now.
i was wondering if you were continuing y our 15 min challenge.
i had surgery on my wrist and have not sewn in months and am going to try the 15 min challenge to try to sew again.
my wrist is stiff but i really want to sew again and am going to try to see if i can manage 15 mins a day.
also the background that you use to type your 15 min challenge on every week is beautiful. would it be possible to tell me how to do the same.

Your colors are looking beautiful together, and I look forward to seeing a non-scrappy version of Bonnie's pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to join in a QAL one day but never seem to get it together!
