I've been trying to decide if My Guy's intent to drive that car until it's not drive-able anymore is inspiring or not. It has certainly inspired Drama Teen to express an interest in riding her bike to the high school next fall so that she doesn't have to be seen in that "clunker". Collecting inspiration is this month's fostering creativity theme, so I've been thinking a lot about what I collect that inspires me in my quilting. I mentioned quilting books and fabric as my biggest inspirational collections in last week's post. I'm not a big collector of much else. Would you consider the blogs I follow in Google Reader as a collection? They are another big source of inspiration. I see how other's use colors and fabrics, what patterns they use. Quilt alongs are another great source of not only inspiration, but motivation to work on a new project (not that I need a lot of motivation to start something new). Not only do I get inspiration from my blog "collection", I get encouragement and friendship as well. I think those are important components of inspiration too.
I was inspired to start a new project this week. I've not done much with it as yet, but it was a nice reward after the binding binge I've been on for the last few weeks.
Seven out of seven is an excellent week. Drama Teen's summer stuff is during the day, so it's easier to find time during the week to climb the stairs to the sewing room in the evenings. Of course the fact that it doesn't get dark until 8:40 or so helps too.
Were you inspired to sew this last week? Or did inspiration take you in a different direction or maybe abandon you completely? No matter what the case is, Mr Linky is set up below for you to share how things went.

I definitely think the quilting blogs you follow could be considered a "collection." They are definitely a huge source of inspiration for me.
ReplyDeleteHaha, and I complain about driving my in laws ten year old car! My poor husband drove my first car until it literally died in the street.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think blogs are a great collection of inspiration! Some of my favorite projects come from them!
blogs are kind of like magazines on line, so they are a collection. I was only inspired to clean this week - no sewing. Hopefully I'll be able to sew now that things are a little cleaner.
ReplyDeleteVery thought provoking post, Kate! I like the idea of my blogs as a collection! They are my number 1 inspiration - unfortunately, they also inspire me to hit "buy" way to often when I have to go search for the supplies to make the thing that I saw "right now"!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think quilting/DIY/Sewing blogs are definitely a collection of sorts. Im frequently inspired by things I see on other peoples blogs.
ReplyDeleteIm kind of with My Guy...I think cars should have the capacity to last a long long time (although 24 years is kinda pushing it )
Inspiration is all I am collecting at the moment. Though I was inspired to finish (start and finish one thing this week) because I have been given a moved up deadline and I just had to drop everything and get it done. I have 3 patterns two write now so I will have to be a bit more inspired this week too. The 15 minute challenge is not going so good with all of my sewing done in one day this week, but I probably did more than a weeks worth in that one day. Personally I find Pintrest inspiring (or at least I collect plenty of pins anyway). I don't have much time to read blogs at the moment I am hoping that changes soon when I get into some kind of routine or they magically add another day to the week.
ReplyDeleteOh blogs are definitely a collection. 7 out of 7 days is a great week! I've been cutting out denim circles and did some embroidery. Not much worth writing about.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I definitely see other people's blogs as inspiration!
