15 Minute Challenge - August 21st

Have you noticed that it's getting light later in the mornings and getting darker earlier in the evenings?  Fall's not in the air around here yet, but the shorter days are a sure indicator that the hot summer is on it's way out and fall is surely getting closer in our part of the world.  Hopefully it will be a wet fall, we really need the rain, as do many places in the US.

The change in seasons does not affect my sewing time as much as school starting up does.  Between volleyball and swim practice during the week, and games on the weekend, it takes a toll on a number of things around the house including sewing.  Swimming is on break for the month of August and we're not sure that there will be a school volleyball team just yet.  So I have no real excuse for not sewing every day this last week, but I only managed to make it up to the sewing room 5 days last week.

Still it was a good week.  Fat Quarter Stars is ready to go out for quilting finally.  Progress was made on the B block for the Sofa Quilt.  But there's been no progress on the Scrappy Coffee Cups, there are still 3 teal blocks that need to get made before the end of the month.  Plus no progress on this month's UFO, the Layer Cake Quilt Along project from 2010/2011.  So I need to get busy this week on both of those projects.

How did you do this week?  Make any progress or does it feel like you are moving in reverse?

  1. I have noticed that the setting sun is getting later and moving slowly towards to south west! Spring is on the way - hurrah!

And tomorrow, despite our gorgeous late winter weather, I hope to actually do some sewing!

  4. Sometimes you need a little break from sewing. I sat and stared at my bits and pieces a lot this week but did get on to it in the end and have even started pattern writing so I am happy with the effort.

  6. I'm so looking forward to fall! Unfortunately where I'm at...it looks like I have a few more weeks! We started school here today...and I actually feel like I might have a few more minutes here and there to sew...but we'll see in the long run! Thankfully I have the motivation of getting in my 15 minutes to keep me going!

  7. Lots of new things going on here, which, coupled with vacation, have meant no sewing at all. You had a great week though!

  8. yes, the days are getting noticeably shorter . . . before we know it, those of us within the U.S. will be watching those golden crispy leaves fall off of the trees and relishing the cooler temps.

so glad to have found the time to link up again with this great challenge (even if i am a day late).
