Slow Stitching - July 22nd

This is my first time linking up with Kathy's Quilts "Slow Stitching Sunday.  I don't do as much hand stitching now that the Drama Teen typically has practice right after school so I'm not waiting for her.  That used to be my preferred activity while she ran the field for soccer practice, or shot baskets, or swam laps.  My go to project for a number of years was a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt (it's still under construction).  More recently, I discovered a set of embroidery blocks stuffed in a hamper  used to store "craft" supplies during a recent sewing room clean up.  One block was finished and a second started.  I remember working on the project, but have no memory of when it was started.

It's a sewing meet weekend, so I'm spending a lot of time sitting in the stands.  A good time to pull out the project and stitch a bit between DT's events.

The darker thread is actually a very dark purple.  I'll probably put some more time into this today or maybe I'll work on a few hexes.

It's time to get breakfast, then go wake up the sleeping teen and coax her into the suit and out the door.  I'll have to wait till we get home to check out what other busy hands have been stitching and posted over at Kathy's Quilts.

  2. I love the portability of embroidery and other hand work. It turns waiting for something time into useful time.I really like the colours in your piece.

  4. I love your embroidery! My hand stitching is binding, and not portable (at least this monster king+ size one) - I really wish I had something little to do during swim lessons.

  5. Pretty colors you're playing with! I did a bit of hand stitching myself today. Hope you get more stitches in than you thought possible today!
