Stash Report - April 10th

It was a pretty good week for sewing.  I finished the Brown Bag quilt top and also pieced the back for it.  So some significant yardage out this week.

Used this week: 4.69 yards
Added this week:  0 yards

Used year to date:  16.69 yards
Added year to date: 7 yards

Net used for 2011:  9.69 yards

Fabric Budget:  13 yards for April to June
Bought/Budget:  0/13 yards

Warning:  It gets pretty geeky past this point.

Last year my reports were all about how much I bought.  Those were some eye opening reports.  I bought a lot of fabric, but didn't use much in comparison.    This year the goal is to manage the stash.  With an ultimate objective of using more of my stash.  Since last week was the end of third quarter, I wanted to assess my progress.  I'm a visual person, so graphs are the best way for me to compare this year to last.

It's hard to believe I bought over 100 yards of fabric the first 3 months of last year.  What I've bought so for this year is much more in line with how much I'm using.  I'm a little behind last year in fabric usage, but I'll catch up this month.

That's it for me this week.  Check out Patchwork Times for more stash reports.

  2. You say "geeky" like it's a bad thing. I loved the graphs!

  5. What's wrong with being a geek? (Says someone who might generate a stash chart weekly.)

  6. Love those graphs! It is amazing how a little here and there adds up so quickly, isn't it? This is my first year doing the reports and it has made me think about using rather than just buying too. Great work on being so balanced this year!

  7. Like you, I am buying VERY LITTLE fabric compared to last year. I feel so much better about quilting and my hobby since I have the numbers a little more in line. I have been trying to only purchase fabric to finish a project. I also have found myself trying to finish up a project on the same week I purchase fabric. I am enjoying doing stash reports...it's very eye opening.
