Stitching Stuff: Week 24 of 2026

Nothing else "broke" this week. The shoulder is back to normal. I started PT for my back and knee, so I've been a bit sore the past couple of days, but a good soreness.  The only bummer is the medication I'm on for my knee is making my stomach very unhappy. I've got 2 more months of it before we decide if it's going away or not. Getting older can be so not fun.

But the being retired part of being old is going well.  I made good use of my retirement time to get back into the sewing room while everything is mostly feeling good. I more than met my 15 minute/day goal for the week.

  • 15 minute days/week = 7/7 days
  • 15 minute days/June = 13/13 days
  • 15 minute days/2026 = 162/164 days
  • Success rate = 98.78%

So it's been a good week on the productivity front.  Hopefully that continues this week.

Queenie, My Girl's kitty, has decided her person shouldn't be leaving the house for work.

Queenie has starting sitting on My Girl's shirt during the getting ready to go morning routine.  I'm not sure how My Girl got past that "I mean business" face, but I do know she made it to work Friday.

How are things going in your sewing room this week?

  1. Queenie looks very determined! Sorry for the side effect on your stomach, but glad that PT makes a difference. Great sewing time this week for you, and I'm pleased with mine too! Thank you for the motivation, Kate!

  2. Hope the medication issues ease as you go along, but I shouldn't say that because I'm not patient with new meds at all. I stopped taking my very first cholesterol medication recently because it just made me feel weird. Poor Queenie - I bet it is hard for your Girl to leave in the mornings!

  4. I’m glad to about your shoulder and I agree about getting older, it’s not for sissy’s. Cats have their way of letting you know they mean business. So sweet. take care of yourself, and enjoy being retired.

  5. I can really commiserate with you regarding the aches and pains as we age. It's a bummer. But glad you are still getting into the sewing room. Queenie looks like her name -- a royal queen!

  6. Hopefully the soreness from PT will work itself out. I am glad to hear your shoulder is feeling better. I am sorry that the meds are making your stomach uneasy. You are so right- it is no fun getting older. I loved your bees and butterflies photos . Cobwebs is going to be an interesting photo shoot. I wish you a lovely week Kate . Hugs and Blessings.

  7. Queenie is in charge! LOL I wish that stomach issues wasn't a side effect of nearly every medication. Hopefully it will end up being worth the side effects and do what it is supposed to do.
