It was a busy week. Taxes took up a good part of Monday. By Wednesday, I was mostly caught up on laundry. Still a bit behind on my monthly chores, but a few of those were knocked out. We had nasty storms on Wednesday and Friday. The storms meant I had to shut down my stitching a bit early so I could unplug my machine. These storms had a lot of lighting. I got caught in nickel/quarter sized hail on my way home from a doctor's appointment Wednesday afternoon. We spent a good 20 minutes in the storm shelter Friday night due to tornado warnings. Thankfully, it looks like our next round of storms isn't till next weekend.
Even with all the disruptions, it was a good week on the stitching front.

Here's what the hail looked like on Wednesday (photo curtesy of My Guy).
I drove about 5 miles in that hail. It sounds so much worse when you are in the car. I kept repeating, "don't get any bigger, don't get any bigger" (they had forecast golf ball sized). Then it was, "please stop, please stop". I sat in the car for probably 5 minutes waiting for it to end before I made the mad dash into the house in the pouring rain.
Hope your week has been much more boring than mine was, but with lots of time to play with needle and thread.

There sure has been lots of wild weather through the middle of the country lately. We are desperate for rain here, but hope we won't get the flooding deluges like the Midwest. I hope you have a calmer week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWow on that hail. I don't think I've ever seen a prediction that said what size the hail is going to be. I'll have to look for that next time. I had a friend that used to start off our work day with a prayer that included, "Please let this be a boring day." I get it.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you will need a boring week, and I hope this coming one is going to be much calmer and nicer. Do you have your own storm shelter or is it a shared/public one?
ReplyDeleteOh wow that was a big hail storm! I know how nerve wrecking it is to be caught in one while driving. I hope it did not do any damage to your vehicle. I wish you a lovely week, Kate. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat hail looks nasty - so sorry you had to be driving in it. Sending good thoughts for a calm weather week for you. And lots of good sewing time, too!
ReplyDeleteYou really have had some stormy weather. I saw the tornado warning in B'ville and prayed it would not affect you! I always keep an eye on OK radar since it is my home and we still have relatives living there in tornado alley. The hail really does sound scary when it's hitting your car. Glad it wasn't as predicted.
ReplyDeleteThere certainly has been a lot of wild weather in the Midwest. I was visiting friends in Greensboro, NC last year and there was a severe thunderstorm with hail. It left my car covered in little dents, which I didn't bother having removed, since I plan on driving this car until it dies. It was near 80F three days ago and today its in the 40's and we had grauple and several snow showers.

Yep, thunder storms show up in my neighborhood and I unplug all of my sewing machines. Ugh that hail is too big. Thank goodness it didn't get bigger. Hope you get your sewing time in again this week.
ReplyDeleteYour hail picture is pretty, but it sure isn't fun to be in the middle of a hail storm. Hope any more bad weather misses you.
ReplyDeleteThat is awful to be caught in a storm like that. That is some big hail! I have a metal carport, and you are right, it does sound much worse when you are under metal. Glad you made it through okay.
