I'm a bit late posting this week, I completely spaced that it was Sunday. Grad Girl and I spent the week in Houston doing some apartment hunting. I'd forgotten just how bad Houston traffic is. The heat and humidity was another not missed living condition. It was a long, tiring week. We were out most of the day and spent our evenings recovering. It wasn't the best week for stitching time.
- 15 minute days/week = 3/7 days
- 15 minute days/Aug = 16/23 days
- 15 minute days/2025 = 208/235 days
- Success rate = 88.51%
So definitely not much on the stitching front last week. Even with the bad traffic and the sticky weather, we had some fun. At least the food was really good and we stayed at a great rental. She'll move sometime next month, she has to pass the background check before she gets the final offer letter. Then she'll have a firm start date and can finish up the leasing process.
I'm hoping to spend a lot more time in my sewing room this week. I'm not quite in withdrawal, but getting close. I'm also way behind on replying to emails and reading blog posts. I'll get caught up on that too this week. How did your stitching go this week?
I understand that "almost withdrawal" feel from my end of summer chaos. I hope you get some sewing done this week. Congrats on Grad Girls new job!
ReplyDeleteHot and humid is exhausting weather but it sounds like you and your daughter had a nice time together. Happy stitching this week!
ReplyDeleteHooray for finding an apartment! Your week was busy, yet you managed to sew 3 days, it's pretty good! Enjoy being home again, and happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteI bet Grad Girl was very happy to have you along as she looked at life in Houston! I hope it doesn't take too long to get all the "stuff" taken care of, so she can get started in her new job. Your sewing room is probably very happy to have you back!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Grad Girl! I wish her all the best in this new phase of life. It sounds like you both were very busy. Glad to hear you are back home. Enjoy your week in the sewing room, Kate. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteMy son lives in Conroe and my step-daughter lives in Spring, so I'm very familiar with Houston traffic. I hope Grad Girl doesn't have a long commute. It will be nice for you to settle back and relax with your quilting.

Oh what great news. Congratulate Grad Girl for me, heck, from all of your followers. Heat and humidity wear me out also. Which is why I spend a lot of time in my lovely basement studio! Hope you have a wonderful time playing in your studio!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Houston, Grad Girl! You eventually get used to the traffic, but the humidity is another thing. I don't know how anyone lived here before electricity and AC were available, honestly. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWill she live near downtown? I used to work in midtown, and there were some neat places there, but that was in the early 2000s, so much has probably changed. Yes the food is definitely a plus for Houston, helps to detract from the traffic, heat, and humidity, lol! How did Queenie fare while you were gone?
