I got over Saturday's stomach bug and was able to spend some time in the sewing room Sunday afternoon. With Grand Illusion ready to go to Trudy for quilting, it was time to select another UFO from the pile. At the beginning of the year, I put together a quilt plan for the year (it's laid out on the 2015 Quilt Plan Tab). There are 8 quilts left on the list. I had planned the next project to be the oldest project on the list, the Red,White and Blue Stars. After giving it some thought, I decided to make the back for the second oldest project, the Moose on the Porch Layer Cake Quilt Along. It's the closest to finished on the list. While searching for the backing fabric for Grand Illusion, I came across a fabric that would play well with the left over layer cake fabrics that I wanted
The horizontal sashing strips have been cut, but are not pieced. I had planned to practice quilting on this project, but I'm not likely to find the time anytime soon to learn something new, so I'd like to get this one off the list by getting the back made and sending it on to Trudy for quilting.

Closest to finished is always the most satisfying approach! Not sure I ever congratulated you on finishing GI. Can't wait to see it quilted!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting Grand Illusion ready for quilting! Mine is still a floppy top hanging in the closet.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have a quilt plan for the year, and that you've posted it. It's so fun to see what you want to do, and see you check it off your list. Yu have some great projects on your plan; I'm looking forward to seeing them done. That coffee quilt - adorable!! :) Thanks for linking up to MCM!
ReplyDeletedef some great projects you have thought of!!! that quilt reminds me of fall :) not something we will see here in AZ for at least another month :) glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI see two finished quilts in your future... soon ... depending how backed up your quilter is. Once you finish the backing you get to pick another UFO to work on. You are making great progress.
ReplyDeleteThose are really lovely fabrics!
ReplyDeleteYou made a pretty backing from fabric that played well with your leftovers
