I had an early morning doctor's appointment to go over the MRI results on my knee. When I mess myself up, apparently I don't do anything in halves. Both meniscus in my right knee are torn. So that will mean surgery, probably later this spring. We'll see how long I'm out of the sewing room when we get to that. For now, I'll keep working to finish off a few projects before I end up on restrictions. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">This weekend was a mixed bag on the stitching front. I did a bit of hand stitching on the binding for Scrappy Butterflies (A Flutter).</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNzfkf9fCsxCXVtdhf6QQsyxWUb0F3QidlpZOBKav_I1_FCpI8LyeyRAEkdwb80Tdm_e8hkm25VMOld_cgCVkeKq8WEFTm0CZftAXiPGFec2VW-rH2iIwP_U9QJarTJcb-UGC8JHQCAxZNerMotjQ6QFsGQF2SuiX4MZCGpI-A3htIAKXZFnnxIiuYbU/s4608/24%2003%2018%20Scrappy%20Butterfly%20status.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="4608" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdNzfkf9fCsxCXVtdhf6QQsyxWUb0F3QidlpZOBKav_I1_FCpI8LyeyRAEkdwb80Tdm_e8hkm25VMOld_cgCVkeKq8WEFTm0CZftAXiPGFec2VW-rH2iIwP_U9QJarTJcb-UGC8JHQCAxZNerMotjQ6QFsGQF2SuiX4MZCGpI-A3htIAKXZFnnxIiuYbU/w640-h480/24%2003%2018%20Scrappy%20Butterfly%20status.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /> </span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I've turned 2 corners and have two more left. So that's good progress. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">The rest of the weekend was spent on cutting additional parts for Indigo Way and making a start on the guild March BOM block.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcdtEf8Om_ONrjcl3HwNaNJElcL4F9qrLBIaZVCBY-smRuyd18XUvGOxHjdo32cCBHrpwuYrQA-jkD2ho_kgZj_94TQwJl-jLbzbBMzR8wJ2bMlAa1crtDtgf87b3x6RnyRYXjJStQtk23HNJDY9CseRIJYq7elcMKJFz-ah6_zXYTpLC7ciAClWcSiY4/s3750/24%2003%2018%20Bits%20and%20pieces%20of%20WIPS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2948" data-original-width="3750" height="504" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcdtEf8Om_ONrjcl3HwNaNJElcL4F9qrLBIaZVCBY-smRuyd18XUvGOxHjdo32cCBHrpwuYrQA-jkD2ho_kgZj_94TQwJl-jLbzbBMzR8wJ2bMlAa1crtDtgf87b3x6RnyRYXjJStQtk23HNJDY9CseRIJYq7elcMKJFz-ah6_zXYTpLC7ciAClWcSiY4/w640-h504/24%2003%2018%20Bits%20and%20pieces%20of%20WIPS.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I'm also working on getting the last border onto the 2024 Stay at Home Round Robin project. Two border strips are assembled and attached. I was almost done with border three when I found an error. So I need to spend some time with Mr. Seam Ripper to get that project back on track. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">So nothing exciting today. I'm hoping to have a finished quilt and quilt top by the end of the week. We'll see how far I get. Clear surfaces are really reflective, so it took some doing to get a photo that didn't have a lot of distracting images dancing on the surfaces. Grad Girl came home with this box after her stay with her grandmother while we were looking for a house prior to our move back to Oklahoma from Texas. It's held Pokeman cards, Game Boy cartridges, and once did time as a crime scene investigator tool box for one of Grad Girl's Halloween costumes. When I pulled it off the shelf it still contained the CSI badge I mocked up for her that Halloween. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">My Guy took a lot of photos for the challenge. Friday is the halfway point of the month. The end of the month marks the end of the first quarter of 2024. There is still 3/4 of the year left, but boy does it seem like time is moving quickly. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Thankfully I was able to make good use of the time I had last week so there was good progress on the To Do List. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 3/5/2024</u></b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. Stay at Home Round Robin: Finish border 5, work on border 6 ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Betty: Finish borders ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">3. Malted Mystery: Finish February clue - no progress</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Wild and Goosey: Continue making purple blocks ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">5. Scrappy Butterflies: Print label, make binding ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">6. Indigo Way: Continue as leaders and enders ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Five check marks and one no progress is a really good week. Betty is a finished quilt top. So it will drop off the list for now. I've plenty in the sewing room to replace it with. Here is this week's to do list.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><b><u><span style="font-size: large;">To Do List for 3/12/2024</span></u></b></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. Stay at Home Round Robin (<a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2023/12/20/announcing-the-2024-sahrr/" target="_blank">Quilting Gail</a>): Finish border 6.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I've made good progress on making the blocks for the border. Just a little over half the 36 blocks needed are pieced. The final parade starts on Monday, so I'd like to have a finished quilt top by then. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Scrappy Butterflies (A Flutter): Finish the quilt</span></p><p><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-size: x-large; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6L6BtZDetyTGH-WIV63wareQryYDgcVsqaWFcW6iUsceBs8pT6gdMAcsAjL7H6-CFjGy_UIhrl_EZliODAnrlfoAsw1YyJIib8jJn64FV2jkod02IiXMV-vSgE5tGDCU0lUWMDH-NtbISSvmrF1JppMyqFY3y1qeMEo50AqYeZYdgusNqW-1lqg1nLew/s3365/24%2003%2012%20Scrappy%20Butterflies%20label%20and%20binding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3365" data-original-width="2778" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6L6BtZDetyTGH-WIV63wareQryYDgcVsqaWFcW6iUsceBs8pT6gdMAcsAjL7H6-CFjGy_UIhrl_EZliODAnrlfoAsw1YyJIib8jJn64FV2jkod02IiXMV-vSgE5tGDCU0lUWMDH-NtbISSvmrF1JppMyqFY3y1qeMEo50AqYeZYdgusNqW-1lqg1nLew/w528-h640/24%2003%2012%20Scrappy%20Butterflies%20label%20and%20binding.jpg" width="528" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;"><br />The label is printed and is ready for pinning to the back. That should be a pretty quick fix. The March block isn't too complicated, so fingers crossed it goes to together pretty quickly. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Malted Mystery (<a href="https://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/malted-mystery-quilt.html" target="_blank">Meadow Mist Designs</a>): Finish February clue, start March clue. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I've gotten a bit behind on this one. If I can finish the March clue, this project will move to the finished quilt top category on my list. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">5. Wild and Goosey (<a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2016/09/addicted-to-scraps-pre-order-event.html" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a>): Continue making purple blocks. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSIzuMapKThGqPLotZtjAQFtNfTG1R3WY_OC8j_897xx1ezN7_45UrfEe84HBm5W0qYKw5kFQVx_tqHS3THrPqEv-LDw1BH2B_z7oQcn7vn3XypYJBW_KZm0fteEN_bn8AqguOsd59wQVjBj_L_JhSZ8I2IaudUqvBBQO-w5UJ-0RIKFhUrqURp8LmB5Y/s3170/24%2003%2012%20Wild%20and%20Goosey%20Purple.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2533" data-original-width="3170" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSIzuMapKThGqPLotZtjAQFtNfTG1R3WY_OC8j_897xx1ezN7_45UrfEe84HBm5W0qYKw5kFQVx_tqHS3THrPqEv-LDw1BH2B_z7oQcn7vn3XypYJBW_KZm0fteEN_bn8AqguOsd59wQVjBj_L_JhSZ8I2IaudUqvBBQO-w5UJ-0RIKFhUrqURp8LmB5Y/w640-h512/24%2003%2012%20Wild%20and%20Goosey%20Purple.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Purple is such a fun color to sew with. One block finished and a start on two others. I'm hoping to make good progress on these this month. I don't have a lot of purple blocks finished, it's the color I've the least of. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">6. Indigo Way (<a href="https://quiltville.com/shop.html#!/Indigo-Way-PDF-Pattern/p/626106021/category=0" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a>): Continue making blocks as leaders and enders. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I need to regroup at some point this week and see what component parts need to be cut. I need to make two more A blocks for sure. I'll need more B blocks and side triangle blocks, I'm just not sure how many. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Once the SAHRR and the Malted Mystery are quilt tops, I'm hoping my weekly to do list will shrink a bit. A couple of days on muscle relaxants and the back is as normal as it gets these days. That did cut into my sewing time a couple of evenings, I just didn't feel much like sewing a lot. It certainly seems I get one body part healed and something else goes out. Unfortunately a trade in just isn't in the cards, so maintenance is key from here on out. </span><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">I made up for the lack of stitching time early in the week over the weekend. That's alright. I'm really happy with how this quilt worked out. The blocks are made from 2.5" strips from my scrap bin. The background and sashing fabrics are left over yardage from other quilts. The blue border is one of my older stash acquisitions. The goal was to clear out some scraps and older yardage. This quilt certainly met that goal. My plan is to finish it and donate it to one of the charities the local guild supports. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The 5th border for the 2024 Stay At Home Round Robin quilt top was finally finished off this weekend. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFBweVM9-iFOcI-PFkswPfq61XRXVGvQXeiCPA0v6TPXbsZLRPuQExlsqFEwMerF5wPrrsapp48YnAmyQqKBOrOJNA59az01BJAEP75nQ93XamCfj6I2GNagIs-bNjVFv9yZezjRnGebdjbBSv15jKCKddQJA2vts-HnN3XgB2knysa41dVl6O5SeXyG0/s3198/24%2003%2010%20SAHRR%20Status.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3198" data-original-width="3190" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFBweVM9-iFOcI-PFkswPfq61XRXVGvQXeiCPA0v6TPXbsZLRPuQExlsqFEwMerF5wPrrsapp48YnAmyQqKBOrOJNA59az01BJAEP75nQ93XamCfj6I2GNagIs-bNjVFv9yZezjRnGebdjbBSv15jKCKddQJA2vts-HnN3XgB2knysa41dVl6O5SeXyG0/w638-h640/24%2003%2010%20SAHRR%20Status.jpg" width="638" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The prompt for border 5 was "4". Fitting in physical therapy and some time with an ice pack afterwards has skewed my schedule a bit. The medication is messing with my sleep schedule a bit and that has definitely taken a toll too. I made it to the sewing room every day, but just didn't have the energy to focus for long periods of time. All that to say, I didn't do so hot on last week's to do list. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 02/27/2024</u></b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. 2024 SAHRR: Finish borders 5 and 6 - progress</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Betty: Finish quilt assembly - progress</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">3. Meadow Mist Designs: Finish the February Clue - progress</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Wild and Goosey: Make red and start purple blocks ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">5. Indigo Way: Continue making blocks as leaders/enders ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I guess the week wasn't so bad. There was a bit of progress on everything. It just feels like things didn't go as smoothly last week. It's a new week and I can hope that my energy levels and focus come back. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 03/05/2024</u></b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. Stay at Home Round Robin (<a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2023/12/20/announcing-the-2024-sahrr/" target="_blank">Quilting Gail</a>): Finish border 5, work on border 6. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQcoCtSWykXgfhBr8WIRx7_vMKdIEtNmQY7Hqlyb21aKWOvUca5MRLDsCZOpEApc0WvKlyHRbFOIUOX-H4PUnvv-rVyXZ4_l_723l7N8y35aPVGZJfJVrbSoivjO7IyWXjD1oiqdOuJv4WCnrKXbsw1Xr7aT6to9byajfJ0QnhbsQ3nNk539m7ZTruQlo/s2750/24%2003%2005%20SAHRR%20Border%205%20stars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2750" data-original-width="2378" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQcoCtSWykXgfhBr8WIRx7_vMKdIEtNmQY7Hqlyb21aKWOvUca5MRLDsCZOpEApc0WvKlyHRbFOIUOX-H4PUnvv-rVyXZ4_l_723l7N8y35aPVGZJfJVrbSoivjO7IyWXjD1oiqdOuJv4WCnrKXbsw1Xr7aT6to9byajfJ0QnhbsQ3nNk539m7ZTruQlo/w554-h640/24%2003%2005%20SAHRR%20Border%205%20stars.jpg" width="554" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">There are just a few stars left to assemble for border #5. I've cut the orange fabric for the blocks in border 6, but need to cut the black fabric before assembly can start. I'll need 36 blocks for the last border. Thankfully I choose a much simpler block for the last border. I have almost 2 weeks before the final parade. I should be able to finish up both borders before then. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Betty (<a href="https://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/2024/01/just-two-charm-pack-quilts-book-qal.html" target="_blank">Meadow Mist Designs</a>): Finish final borders</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFZncm5heQHSVQpxvkUEJ0zYsIF2A1kmOkR0LsMHeiQlbTKwDO0FguOxRp6WRwc6t0wCVFgRvsBO5urN_MpfgQHckmHFSSv63g3YTU-mopjk9qTCJco6AY6l28aXYbSg1hzFFWTtwp1rvjRsetkDf-4Wp3YZTuXjI6CKbV4IYHcait0i7HF-poauT665Y/s3942/24%2003%2005%20Betty%20status.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3942" data-original-width="3348" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFZncm5heQHSVQpxvkUEJ0zYsIF2A1kmOkR0LsMHeiQlbTKwDO0FguOxRp6WRwc6t0wCVFgRvsBO5urN_MpfgQHckmHFSSv63g3YTU-mopjk9qTCJco6AY6l28aXYbSg1hzFFWTtwp1rvjRsetkDf-4Wp3YZTuXjI6CKbV4IYHcait0i7HF-poauT665Y/w544-h640/24%2003%2005%20Betty%20status.jpg" width="544" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Cheryl's pattern in the book uses the background fabric as the border, but I want a blue final border. So I changed the background border to the same size as the sashing. I have several options for the final border, I need to decide which one to use this week and cut the strips. Betty should be a finished quilt top by the next week (fingers crossed anyway). I missed the quilt parade dead line, but that's OK. I will still end up with a quilt that helped reduce the scraps in my too full bin. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">3. Malted Mystery (<a href="https://meadowmistdesigns.blogspot.com/p/malted-mystery-quilt.html" target="_blank">Meadow Mist Designs</a>): Finish the February clue.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Just two narrow borders have to be added to finish off the February clue. The March clue comes out on Thursday. It would be nice to get the last clue finished before then. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Wild and Goosey (<a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2016/09/addicted-to-scraps-pre-order-event.html" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a>): Continue making purple blocks</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM1nMCFZFt6jihkFjoO0iBYMrAI09fmYHaEM-RbQOrY6qs14nNm2-I2JsxIBOLyy4xtLjzjncmzBIHyxP9YoG01yfzM0AxHlmwY8D4MIRrpqrykWShZ7_6hZ5901rKR_ptrcibfFXOq4JJTgzHVguiH5I-n91_IXx9mnLzD3UcLXihaUHdg69HeWDDEU/s2860/24%2003%2005%20WG%20purple%20blocks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2860" data-original-width="2623" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM1nMCFZFt6jihkFjoO0iBYMrAI09fmYHaEM-RbQOrY6qs14nNm2-I2JsxIBOLyy4xtLjzjncmzBIHyxP9YoG01yfzM0AxHlmwY8D4MIRrpqrykWShZ7_6hZ5901rKR_ptrcibfFXOq4JJTgzHVguiH5I-n91_IXx9mnLzD3UcLXihaUHdg69HeWDDEU/w586-h640/24%2003%2005%20WG%20purple%20blocks.jpg" width="586" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I only managed 4 purple blocks last year. I spent some time this weekend designing the label. A flutter is a group of butterflies and that seems to fit well for this quilt. The goal is to have a finished quilt by the end of the month. Doing a little each week will help me meet that goal. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">6. Indigo Way (<a href="https://quiltville.com/shop.html#!/Indigo-Way-PDF-Pattern/p/626106021/category=0" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a>): Continue making blocks as leaders and enders.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I'm going to need to make a few more components for the blocks. I made half the blocks to start with, but my final layout requires 2 more block A and several more block b and block b setting triangles. Even so, I've been happy with the progress. I might actually finish this one before this year's mystery starts up. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">This week's list is a little longer than last week's list. But I'm almost done with the friendship stars, which take a lot of piecing to finish. Hopefully once those are done, it will be easier to work in more projects this week. True Love is serious stuff. My Guy and I had a conversation about love languages a couple of weeks ago. I don't think we each have just one, but a big one for both of us is acts of service. When I was working, if I had all day meetings that meant no afternoon coffee, he was well known for walking in at the end of the lunch break with a large latte from our favorite coffee place. Even some of the men I worked with were envious (probably just because I had good coffee to start what was likely going to be a long afternoon). I returned the favor. If he had all day meetings, I'd bring him coffee before the end of lunch. For some reason it was more impactful when he brought it to me. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgud9WSqLg6gEWM7yH8rMT6GzoboS1RVx959PbtPAxrVp_LNk53sV29Eyv-8OdpRj28U4g36AOxpTTKfKPh3NFT0OMFlVQK2I6hwE5Fcaf3EfFSsJIWZmLoTi5INkzQcAAqqGatISSjLNLOqQBsj6xWe1L6xCXem1gAIjHaYCE7MfBvMtnKe43kRGQm4ZE/s3813/Week%20104%20KAS%20True%20Love%20Like%20Coffee%20In%20the%20Morning.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="3813" height="612" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgud9WSqLg6gEWM7yH8rMT6GzoboS1RVx959PbtPAxrVp_LNk53sV29Eyv-8OdpRj28U4g36AOxpTTKfKPh3NFT0OMFlVQK2I6hwE5Fcaf3EfFSsJIWZmLoTi5INkzQcAAqqGatISSjLNLOqQBsj6xWe1L6xCXem1gAIjHaYCE7MfBvMtnKe43kRGQm4ZE/w640-h612/Week%20104%20KAS%20True%20Love%20Like%20Coffee%20In%20the%20Morning.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Kate: True Love like Coffee in the Morning</span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">My Guy makes coffee every morning, heats up my cup in the microwave and then usually brings me my first cup in the morning as I'm writing on the computer. The first month of the year always seems to be so long and then you blink and February is over. As the month is over it's time to review my progress (or lack thereof) on my <a href="https://mspdesignsusa.com/2024/02/29/february-phd-update-4/" target="_blank">PHD in 2024</a> and link up with <a href="https://mspdesignsusa.com/" target="_blank">P Designs USA</a> for the February report. Maybe a little of each? </span></p>Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02876375845688651131noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3348317753715681760.post-49045189531440896402024-02-27T09:23:00.000-06:002024-02-27T09:23:41.079-06:00To Do List for the Week of 02/27/2024<span style="font-size: large;">Last week's To Do List post was so optimistic. Things worked out that way in the end, but it went way south before things got on the right path. I wasn't able to walk up the stairs to my sewing room for a couple of days, so that definitely impacted how much got done on last week's check list. </span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 02/20/2024</u></b></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">1. 2024 SAHRR: Finish border #5 - progress</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">2. Three check marks and progress on all the other to do items is really good considering how bad I felt for most of the week. <br /></span><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Still no clue on what is causing my leg issues. Physical therapy started yesterday. I'm pretty sore from that, but thankfully the medication has helped with the rest of pain. Up to this week, I'd done such a good job of keeping up. Unfortunately, some health issues really limited my sewing room time this week. It didn't help that my first idea for the border turned out to be a bit unreasonable to piece in a timely manner, so I ended up coming up with plan 2. I did make some progress, just not nearly as much as I would have liked. </span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0PC1MxNvWbpphAPITRJq2tRIcFbzZFvtfuRJJIcD8_Hfn8zv48FFyI6KVzUobVXp5b8gZOg2u3rEaaVB8qKnWS7CkwT6JfcQn1Kj0Y20S3_2KfqffNj5OigmrCF_70Xr-6o0Jxrkh-xZIWIVN2utfOsGYNihCku4xLv6QRxBnkGOso0eU267JSHlhj6g/s3645/24%2002%2025%20Border%205%20Status.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3348" data-original-width="3645" height="588" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0PC1MxNvWbpphAPITRJq2tRIcFbzZFvtfuRJJIcD8_Hfn8zv48FFyI6KVzUobVXp5b8gZOg2u3rEaaVB8qKnWS7CkwT6JfcQn1Kj0Y20S3_2KfqffNj5OigmrCF_70Xr-6o0Jxrkh-xZIWIVN2utfOsGYNihCku4xLv6QRxBnkGOso0eU267JSHlhj6g/w640-h588/24%2002%2025%20Border%205%20Status.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2024/02/19/sahrr-round-5-3/" target="_blank">Quilting Gail</a> set this week's prompt as "4". The pinched nerve in my leg is slowly improving, but I'm still pretty slow and sore. Add to that My Guy has a stomach virus. The only good thing out of that is I've been sleeping on the couch due to my leg and apparently missed out on the virus. Thankfully my stitching time hasn't been impacted too badly and I did pretty well with last week's long to do list. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 02/12/2024</u></b></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. 2024 SAHRR: Finish border #4 ✔</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Well that lasted until about May. It's not that I quit taking photos, it's just that I stopped what limited studying I'd been doing and didn't keep up with reviewing and critiquing my photos. At the end of this January, I asked myself what I really wanted out of my photography, why am I taking photographs? I came up with three reasons:</span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">1. I need to walk for my health, photography makes it more palatable and interesting.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">2. I'm retired, but I want to keep learning new skills.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">3. It's something both My Guy and I both enjoy doing together. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Those are all good reasons. Having decided that, the next question was what do I want to achieve with my photography? I read a few articles on other photographers and what they thought was important about taking photos and here's what I decided mattered to me:</span></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">1. I enjoy photographing the little things we tend to miss, how the light shines on water or how light shines through a leaf. One photographer said "An image is a poem about time". And that thought really resonated with me. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">2. It just brings me joy. Simple as that. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">So I'm back on my journey to document the interaction of light with objects via the camera lens. My plan is to do a monthly summary on the blog. Here's the best that came out of my January photography efforts. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">January was cold and dreary, but we did get some incredible sunrises. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Then it promptly warmed up and made everything messy. But it was pretty while it lasted. The roads were really slushy, consequently, My Guy's office had delayed start yesterday. That threw off the start to my day, in a good way. It's always nice to have him around the house. Though I didn't get to my housework, I did make it upstairs to finish the last check mark on last week's to do list. </span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 02/06/2024</u></b></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">1. 2024 SAHRR: Finish border #3 ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">2. Betty: Assemble last 5 blocks ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">3. Indigo Way: Continue assembling blocks ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">4. Malted Mystery: Work on the February clue ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">5. Wild and Goosey: Work on red blocks ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">6. Chilhowie: Finish last block ✔</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">So it was definitely a good week in the sewing room. Chilhowie is going to drop off my list as I need the design wall to deal with the pieced sashing. But I'm adding in a new project to take it's place as you'll see in this week's to do list. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>To Do List for 02/12/2024</u></b></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">1. 2024 Stay at Home Round Robin (<a href="https://quiltinggail.com/2023/12/20/announcing-the-2024-sahrr/" target="_blank">Quilting Gail</a>) : Finish border #4</span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIZjOItRYHe-1uExcRtv3mf05sFC6FaSUXUrOHhBd77z0YAC_cP0UxHvMZR5z2BpzOBeuX6K3sIvg_3tS9VcnnW_Atx3Kecsuj8rAEhW7jZxU3Aa7vlgGVE__X-nZBDq4EtrLpkPolxdNT-_rYL8KbvL2iQQsTiGUZVFi-e-7Fl_ot_P6nL9pwUISQGbs/s4032/24%2002%2012%20Fabric%20for%20Border%204.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIZjOItRYHe-1uExcRtv3mf05sFC6FaSUXUrOHhBd77z0YAC_cP0UxHvMZR5z2BpzOBeuX6K3sIvg_3tS9VcnnW_Atx3Kecsuj8rAEhW7jZxU3Aa7vlgGVE__X-nZBDq4EtrLpkPolxdNT-_rYL8KbvL2iQQsTiGUZVFi-e-7Fl_ot_P6nL9pwUISQGbs/w640-h480/24%2002%2012%20Fabric%20for%20Border%204.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">I've got the design for border #4 worked out with Grad Girl and she's chosen the fabrics. I'm going to have to take Indigo Way off the big design wall so I can lay out all 20 of the Betty blocks and decide on a final layout so the sashing strips can be added. I'm hoping to get all the sashing done this week and maybe started on sewing the blocks together into rows. We'll see how well that goes. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">3. I was doing so well Friday on getting my triangle borders pulled together. The first set of border blocks went up on the design wall just before dinner on Friday. Something didn't look right. The diamond tips don't line up. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioQMzv5eZzYuAGunMXR6jiautObK8dfurzRwc4xmpqs2vrJpYCZOBg166WhjSJlBDAD9-vkmeI8q9OX3f5bX_GzshhkWj9YSO12vfpnxHE_i-fyTTffpYjf1eyN89WIGUYDef5hJA-HaI4rkqgEQI9awSevPqlkIzKZOyQsKZkagLZeEy3oHponCVVv58/s4608/24%2002%2010%20Error%20in%20Diamond%20Blocks.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3128" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioQMzv5eZzYuAGunMXR6jiautObK8dfurzRwc4xmpqs2vrJpYCZOBg166WhjSJlBDAD9-vkmeI8q9OX3f5bX_GzshhkWj9YSO12vfpnxHE_i-fyTTffpYjf1eyN89WIGUYDef5hJA-HaI4rkqgEQI9awSevPqlkIzKZOyQsKZkagLZeEy3oHponCVVv58/w434-h640/24%2002%2010%20Error%20in%20Diamond%20Blocks.jpg" width="434" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I'm paper piecing these diamonds. Note that a diamond is made up of two equilateral triangles and four isosceles triangles. These look wonky because the center diamonds aren't made from two equilateral triangles. I didn't draw the block correctly in EQ and didn't catch it till these were up on the design wall. Why didn't I see it in my EQ quilt mock up? I used triangle in a square blocks to design the border and decided that paper piecing the blocks as diamonds would be faster. It would have been if I'd caught that drawing error before I started making the blocks. Lesson learned, double check my measurements in EQ before I print my paper templates. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">By Saturday evening, I had redrawn the block, reprinted the paper pieces, cut the replacement fabric pieces and finished the first set of blocks. It took me the rest of Sunday to finish all 4 borders. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheL0WTPZc0uqrBIRi5w-yQwfkpOEKPLEq9Kxm3bAs7DQSdBOPXqu6DV2UK6ejgYNIkaxlG2saTsA4foy22P5tgil_M5lz2g0aj7iy0xMO4D5JQ9BA3ItTUNkJO0Sj2vy2JzSoW9FilpUCgURTJep72_AafNyMdSxZSaEIxz7HjVVNH3TwYhy3ghs9r6kk/s3029/24%2002%2011%202024%20SAHRR%20Border%203%20.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3029" data-original-width="2804" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheL0WTPZc0uqrBIRi5w-yQwfkpOEKPLEq9Kxm3bAs7DQSdBOPXqu6DV2UK6ejgYNIkaxlG2saTsA4foy22P5tgil_M5lz2g0aj7iy0xMO4D5JQ9BA3ItTUNkJO0Sj2vy2JzSoW9FilpUCgURTJep72_AafNyMdSxZSaEIxz7HjVVNH3TwYhy3ghs9r6kk/w592-h640/24%2002%2011%202024%20SAHRR%20Border%203%20.jpg" width="592" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">The quilt top is now 34" x 36". It was warm enough for some hiking and photography before getting cool enough that hiding in the sewing room was really the only option. So it's definitely a great sewing weekend. Though it doesn't make for fun photography, I'm not a fan of walking in the cold. It doesn't seem to bother My Guy. Thankfully it was warmer early this week and it was more enticing to get out and find a photograph for this week's prompt. </span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1oPRo-PWNIC7YNPem9XSpRLnb4s6_ejqBagvKWZReG6eZPVIWi8y25JnWycaFWhqHjCxyfxwGJL6_Ry4VaEsQl0ma-JQmWli441ckdj_Tta55yvPVdNGLMFTZ4-FOLoW6C2xg_ONX2xgfW_6DCajO3XSVstxr5dUcCx9WpMP_t6bsPIr3_6GVt-Pv0MA/s5696/Week%20102%20102%20Photo%20Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5696" data-original-width="4000" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1oPRo-PWNIC7YNPem9XSpRLnb4s6_ejqBagvKWZReG6eZPVIWi8y25JnWycaFWhqHjCxyfxwGJL6_Ry4VaEsQl0ma-JQmWli441ckdj_Tta55yvPVdNGLMFTZ4-FOLoW6C2xg_ONX2xgfW_6DCajO3XSVstxr5dUcCx9WpMP_t6bsPIr3_6GVt-Pv0MA/w281-h400/Week%20102%20102%20Photo%20Card.jpg" width="281" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">After last week's challenging "good and evil" prompt, this one was much easier for everyone. So she got creative for this week's prompt. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSlX_Oct5vzEKsKC9JB4Rni1hAIZV60NUXHEy0NXUdD_DSSPBtPsSuBj3zlQXieu5ky5e2ngGdMCZwq7C-yuCKsFrcZoFANYKcb6hNUPr8IaxbjvzN15aWWnh2QBwWSEOsqzhhIoG62pmgcAwQBaat8FpES637uUw5credC9XNzg3twOP2FTv-j1DhwEU/s4000/Week%20102%20MEH%20No%20Leaves%20Just%20Petals.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="4000" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSlX_Oct5vzEKsKC9JB4Rni1hAIZV60NUXHEy0NXUdD_DSSPBtPsSuBj3zlQXieu5ky5e2ngGdMCZwq7C-yuCKsFrcZoFANYKcb6hNUPr8IaxbjvzN15aWWnh2QBwWSEOsqzhhIoG62pmgcAwQBaat8FpES637uUw5credC9XNzg3twOP2FTv-j1DhwEU/w640-h640/Week%20102%20MEH%20No%20Leaves%20Just%20Petals.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Grad Girl: Leave-less, Petal-ful</span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">So not your typical response to the prompt, but I like the monochromatic tone of the photo. It's definitely a week where we all went a different interpretations. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Hopefully Grad Girl will have more time to get a photograph this next week. The challenge will be how to get an interesting photo. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXXXG6uhlti0E_2cOQZPHWPjgbxbrhr-0tgJYfqpY9gf1l3aAvqZdFzXnjJlWd7nJoVL5vlS8AFkzmTZHrC_HiNZpXVpZXUBpdqpgHk3CRoh47JVoUg__feCdMaUd5a_WAUY32cb1chubIJwSAdPXQ5y53atthqQNHhh2EnqChIXxDG5CEbatZ5Za_3sY/s4232/Week%20103%20103%20Photo%20Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4232" data-original-width="3000" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXXXG6uhlti0E_2cOQZPHWPjgbxbrhr-0tgJYfqpY9gf1l3aAvqZdFzXnjJlWd7nJoVL5vlS8AFkzmTZHrC_HiNZpXVpZXUBpdqpgHk3CRoh47JVoUg__feCdMaUd5a_WAUY32cb1chubIJwSAdPXQ5y53atthqQNHhh2EnqChIXxDG5CEbatZ5Za_3sY/w284-h400/Week%20103%20103%20Photo%20Card.jpg" width="284" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">I know of some interesting stairs, but not necessary around here. Definitely going to have to do some contemplation for this week's prompt. </span></div>Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02876375845688651131noreply@blogger.com8
