Design Wall Monday - Still Bordering

It was a wonderfully relaxing three day weekend.  Though I'm still not ready for it to be Monday.  Last Friday, Drama Teen was told by her physical therapist that she could dump the last crutch and walk on her own.  Which she did on Saturday by attending an all day picnic with her friends.  She paid for all the walking she did at the picnic since she was almost too sore to walk yesterday.  DT still has some work to do to get herself back to full strength, but she's made some really good gains.  She's thrilled to be off the crutches.

Since I took Friday off as a mental health day, there was a lot of time spent in the sewing room.  Not all of the time there was spent on stitching.  I've got a pile of washed fabrics to press and then there are scraps to cut up into usable sizes.  I did both some ironing and cutting in addition to working on the borders for Scrappy Stars.

The first two borders are done and I made a start on the third.  The plans call for a total of 5 borders to make it large enough to fit a queen size bed.   This quilt was started in 2003, it's my oldest UFO.  When I pulled it out of the box and starting working on it again, I wasn't sure I'd like the finished quilt.  I typically prefer brights, but this project has grown on me, especially once the blocks were all sewn together.

That's it for me this week.  There are more design wall's linked up over at Patchwork Times

That is a beautiful scrappy stars quilt. It is so nice to get older UFOs done (or more done!) I dread to look in the back of my closet to see how many more old ones I have!

Hooray for no crutches!
The borders you've chosen are a wonderful addition to this already pretty quilt. Exciting to watch it progress.
Happy Stitching! ツ

That quilt is gorgeous. Funny how our tastes change over time. I like to pull out old pieces and either finish them or move them farther along in the process.

Glad DT is well on the mend. Good for you taking a day for you!

Glad DT is doing well and continuing to mend! It's hard to hold back when the doc gives the go ahead! Your quilt is lovely -- but I can't imagine doing FIVE borders! I really struggle with borders, so I'm very impressed! :)

My grandson broke his ankle in May and just recently got out of the wheelchair and onto crutches. He was just happy to be upright. I think what I like about your scrappy stars is that it has that old fashioned, comfy, look. I don't make that kind of quilt either so I don't have anything like that around here.
