15 Minute Challenge Day 8 - It's All About the PIGS

I've been following along with Jill's "Year of the PIGS" over at Ramblings of a Fabric and Yarn Obsessor.  As I was considering her questions for this week, I remembered that my 15 Minute Challenge was really all about UFOs and PIGS.  I want to finish my UFOs and start on some of my PIGS, but I have to commit the time for that to happen.  It's so easy to just piddle the time away, especially when you are tired.  It's amazed me how energized I feel once I get myself upstairs and start working on something.  Another lesson learned.

On to Jill's Year of the PIGS questions for this week.

What was my last finish?   Last month I finished the One Day Mystery Quilt from Planet Patchwork.  I wrote about that one here

What UFO am I working on?  I spent about an hour last night sewing the binding on the 2008 BOM.  I covered that one here.  This quilt is so big, it's going to take me forever to get that done!  I'm going to have to work for more than 15 minutes a night to finish this one before the end of the month.

Your BOM quilt is particularly lovely. I like big quilts, too, but you are right, each step takes quite a bit of time.

I love the 15 minute a day challenge -- not just for quilting/sewing but for lots of other stuff. I might just try it myself!

The Chinese say a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.

I think breaking HUGE tasks down into smaller parts is really helpful if you dont want to feel completely overwhelmed. Thats whyI make 3 Dresden blocks a week. I'd go batty if I thought about the massive-ness of that total project!

Quilting is not a race ...(thank goodness -since I still have PhD's from a year ago laying around ..)

You;re doing brilliantly with your 15 minutes a day Kate.

It's amazing how much gets done in 15 minutes. I quilted the entire freedom quilt for my older son by getting up earlier and stitching 15 minutes before going to school each day. It took me several months, but it was finished in a lot less time than if I waited "until I had time" to quilt it!

Great finishes and current projects! Take your time on the binding - there is no rush and no prize for getting it done. Unless it is for someone and you have to have it done by a certain due date. lol
